5 Ess Thrown from forward flank into midfield in second term and instantly gave Pies a lift. Class exemplified what the Pies lack. 7
6 Geel Former Roo worked into game to be a factor. Used footy with precision and linked well off a wing. 6

8 GWS Off the interchange and sent forward to inject some class, but seemed just a heartbeat off the pace. 5
9 Haw Missed a simple set shot in second term just as momentum growing. Got energy levels up in final term, but not his best outing. 4
10 Bris Two early goals got side started and in end did enough to keep the Lions at bay; 17 of 19 possessions were uncontested. 6
11 Frem Hurt his calf but wasn’t having an impact anyway. 3

1 Adel Moved well and provided six clearances and eight inside-50s to the effort. 7
2 Bris Showed his valuable to the side with another polished output. 7
3 Melb Lacked impact for much of the day but had some nice touches late that were vital. 5
4 Frem Plenty of the ball but also tackled and chased impressively. Good signs for remainder of year. 7
5 GCS Fairly subdued after a couple of big weeks. 4
6 WB Best afield in first half, but quieter in final hour. 7
7 StK Silky ball movement early but spent lot of time on exercise bike on bench later. 5

22 Syd Ball use was sublime – rarely wasted a disposal. Seven clearances, seven inside-50s. 8
23 GWS Burst in and out in midfield but touches had class. Just needed to get it more often. 6

1 Ess Began wing on Heppell. Into middle for second half. Very quiet. 3
2 WB Dangerous when able to escape tag of Wallis. Should’ve kicked two goals. 5
3 Port Explosive in the first term, then tagged by Cornes but came back towards end of game. 7
4 Syd At his sublime best and another key figure in the Roos' triumph. 8
5 Coll Two kicks first half not enough from playmaker. Two inside-50s, no goals. 4

1 Coll Ran hard to create space and generate moves around the field. 2
2 Geel Fell away badly (two disposals final term) after solid three terms. 5
3 Syd Big first half but took a backseat to Swans’ midfielders in second half. 6
4 Bris Unstoppable in midfield. 8
5 Haw Driving force for North all day and chimed in with brilliant goal. 7
6 Port Cassisi had the job on him, but he still managed to have significant input. 6
7 WB Surprisingly started as sub, then came on for Mullett at half time but minimal drive. 3
8 WCE Crucial with use of the ball early but West Coast clamped down after that. 6
9 Adel Lifted intensity a little in second half and OK but certainly didn’t star. 6
10 StK In 200th game used the ball with precision and class. 7
11 GCS Kicked a goal but was a bit sloppy with the ball. 6
13 Frem Well held by C.Pearce. Couldn’t play major role. 4
14 GWS Grabbed five clearances and three inside-50s. Did enough to stay involved. 6
15 Rich Had Dea early but burnt him off with his run and creativity. 6
16 Bris Unable to use his explosive pace to distinct advantage. 5
17 Carl Began in attack. Showed flashes, but that was it. 4
18 Melb Did some magical things and won his fair share of the pill. 7
19 Geel Helped himself to three first-half goals and ended with four to be a key. 8
20 Adel Dynamic third quarter could have won match for his side. Good to watch. 7
21 Ess Started brilliantly then a flat spot for half an hour before kicking vital goals. 7

1 Ess Had 17 touches to half time and belied interrupted preparation. 7

3 Geel Getting better every week and was a key player with 31 disposals. 8
4 Syd One of his side’s hardest workers but found it difficult to break into open. 6
5 GCS Quiet night and subbed out late in the game with only 13 disposals. 3
6 WCE Kicked a superb goal among his 19 disposals. 6
7 WB Got the ball OK through the midfield but wasn’t incisive with his entries. 6
8 Port Looked to be the matchwinner until Kangaroos faded out in the last quarter. 8
9 Bris Quiet first three quarters, but lifted later to help team hold on. 5
10 Haw A rare shining light. His quality and class shone through with each touch. 7
12 GCS A good four quarter effort without being outstanding. 6
13 Adel Active early and had big third quarter. Has discovered consistency. 8
14 StK Read the play beautifully and ran on strongly at the end. 8
15 WCE Contributed OK but was held within reasonable limits. 6
