2016 Digest:   Working desperately to return to the form he displayed at Melbourne four seasons ago. Stayed back in Geelong during the players’ eight-week break to continue training and while on a modified program in the lead-up to Christmas has since joined the main group. Looms as the X factor for the Cats given his match-winning abilities.

2016 NAB Cup:   Out indefinitely this time with a calf tear. Trained well early part of pre-season but career now hangs in balance.

1 Port Two lifting goals early then starved for opportunity until ankle injury saw him subbed. 4
2 Ess Just one goal but was relegated to a mere spectator in Dees forward half. 2

1 Bris Kicked both his goals when game was over. Early on he was not a factor. 3
2 WCE A shining light with five goals. Never gave in. 7
3 Rich Kicked two first-half goals then opportunities dried up big time. 4
4 WB Started well. Hurt shoulder then crashed headfirst. Subbed off. 4
6 Geel Great game to end with four goals from limited opportunities. 8
7 Haw Brilliant start and was lone hand in attack for Demons. Rucked later. 5
8 Syd Battled hard as a back-up ruckman but ineffective up forward. 6
9 Carl Kicked 3.4 but selfish at times and that’s not what the team needed. 5
10 Ess Battled away and was a threat in second half. 5
11 Coll Tried valiantly to impose himself and ended with four goals. Fine display. 7
13 GWS On fire with four first-quarter goals then injured midway through second. 4
