2016 Digest:   Struggled on plenty of occasions last year and it seemed that his career would be on thin ice. If he can get back to his best as a half-back flanker it would make a significant difference to the team.

6 Carl Among the Dons’ best across half back. Clean hands and rebound a factor in the game. 7
7 Syd Produced another solid showing in the back half with eight marks and five rebound-50s. 6

10 Rich Chimed in well at half back but did make a few skill errors. Couldn’t question effort. 5
11 Frem Turned the ball over too much. 3
12 Haw Had the task on Rioli who got away in first hour. Minimal impact. 3
13 GWS Tried hard but skill execution and decision making not great. Missed two shots at goal late. 6
15 WCE Booted a goal from defence. Persisted. 5

17 Rich Horror first three quarters. Dropped a few sitters in the hole and ball use poor. Better late. 3

3 VFL Slow start but warmed into the contest to play a key role. -
4 Coll Selfish play cost team a goal in second term. Kept battling from wing/half back. 5
5 StK Mixed bag of handy efforts and occasional clangers. 4
6 Frem Tried hard without having a big impact. 5
7 NM Hamstring worries in first half but played on and did so quite well. 6
8 Bris Sub came on in final term and had a few touches. 2
9 Rich Fumbled and lacked normal drive from defence. Dirty night. 3
10 Geel Horror night. Couldn’t get into the game to provide some outside run. 3
11 VFL Played at both ends. 28 possessions and looked back in form. -

13 Haw Only seven effective disposals not enough for a playmaking half-back/wingman. 3
14 StK No effect whatsoever. Future seems clouded. 1

1 PM Got through first game back from injury well. -
2 PM Kicked two goals, but then injured his hamstring again. -

6 Coll Sub. Tried to do a little too much and struggled with the tempo. 1
7 WB Struggled early and made huge errors. Finished with a goal from 15 touches. 4
8 Bris Lively battle with Green and conceded silly 50m penalty. Busy at half back. 5
9 Syd Looks a shade of the slashing player of a few years ago. Missed a few easy targets. 4
11 Rich Roamed across half back and started to recapture some run out of defence. 5
12 GWS Mid-range game and had a mixed night. 4
13 Melb Had Watts at half back and provided some run however the Dee kick two key goals. 6
14 Adel Got into the game after half time. Not as much run as usual though. 5
15 Geel Big tackle (seven for night) and goal superb in final term. Used the ball well. 6
16 Port Did the job on Wingard keeping him goalless. 7
17 Coll Clamped on plenty of tackles across half back. 6
18 WB Dogs’ nullified his run and creativity to a degree. Not a huge impact. 4
19 Syd Not a great night and had plenty of mistakes in disposal. 3
20 Rich Ball use and work-rate first class. Laid one bone-crunching tackle. 6
21 WCE Generally quiet but did a few incisive things. 4

1 Adel Covered ground and showed creative run off half-back. 6
2 Melb Ran off Trengove at half back and provided good drive. 7
3 Frem Quiet for most of game but finally had crucial bigger involvement in last quarter. 4
4 StK Prepared to take the game on and run off half back. 6
5 Coll Attacked ball with real vigour and provided good rebound from defence. 6
6 GWS Ran hard from defence after the main break. 22 uncontested possessions. 6
7 Ankle.
8 VFL OK without starring at half back serving club suspension in VFL. -
9 Rich A fine contributor with his run from half back. Used the ball well. 8
10 Syd Ran OK early in the game but crunched in marking contest and stretchered off. 3

2 Port Ran hard to be an option forward of centre and a key with 23 disposals. 7
3 GCS Did his hamstring in first quarter and was subbed off. 0
6 Bris Subbed off during the third quarter after a very quiet afternoon. 2
7 WCE Run off half back was important. 6
8 Rich The plus one in defence early. Hurt shoulder in second term. Limited then. 5
9 GWS Found plenty of the ball and took nine marks. One of the best. 8
10 Melb Had a lot of the ball but his effectiveness was well down. 5
11 Syd Even his leg speed couldn’t keep with Lewis Jetta, but had big final quarter. 5
13 Frem Quiet for three quarters but lifted in the final term. 5
14 WB Kicked a ripping goal on the run in third term. 7
15 StK Tried to generate something from half-back. 6
