2017 Season

1 Syd Rucked pretty much solo and did it with enough oomph to be a key to the win. 7
2 Frem Used Aaron Sandilands as a step ladder, not sure if it was legal but the umpires were ok with it. 6
3 Adel 23 Hit-outs in the first term and was dominating, undisciplined free kick against Knight in the last term cost a goal. 7
4 Suspended.
5 Carl Dominated Andrew Phillips in the hit-outs 41 – 29. 6
6 Bris Good battle with Martin and started to find his rhythm. 7
7 WCE Marked everything that went he way, best big man on the ground, along with Charlie Dixon almost dragged his team over the line. 8
8 GCS Excellent in the ruck with his follow up once the ball hit the ground. Some sublime taps as well. 7
9 Bye.
10 Geel Great battle with Smith which probably ended in a nil-all draw. Kicked a goal, took some nice marks but only six effective disp. 7
11 Haw Provided an armchair ride for his onballers who lapped up the service to slice through Hawks. Is he the All Australian ruckman? 8
12 Ess Had Bellchambers measure in ruck contests, but not normal impact once the ball hit the deck. 5
13 Bris Dominated in ruck, then pushed forward in the second half and was rewarded with two goals. 7
14 Coll Celebrated 200th game with a great battle against Grundy; 10 disposals, five marks and four clearances. 5
15 Rich Has to be the leading contender for the All-Australian Ruckman position, consistently gives his midfielders first use of the footy. 7
16 WCE Best on ground. Controlled the game with his brilliant ruck work and two goals. 9
17 NM Rolled his ankle after getting caught under a Lindsay Thomas tackle but jogged it off and returned to the game. 7
18 Melb Had pants pulled down by Gawn in first half, then took over when the Dee went off briefly. Okay, but not his best. 6
19 StK In red-hot form in the ruck and in first half his controlled taps set up mids. 8
20 Adel Lost out to Sam Jacobs in the ruck and didn’t give his midfield service as he usually does. 6
21 Coll Had some great taps to advantage but didn’t have it his own way as expected against Mason Cox. 6
22 WB Huge first term into the wind in ruck with two goals. Marked strongly and was a big factor in the result. 8
23 GCS Made light work of the inexperienced Brooksby and Wright in the ruck duels. 7
EF WCE Jumped all over Vardy and Petrie at stoppage, but unable to find the ball around ground. Disappointing night. 4

1 Frem Competed against Sandilands. Took two contested marks. Should be happy. 5
2 Syd Played more as a ruckman but did kick his first goals for his new club. 6
3 NM Beaten early by Goldstein but continued to jump and was influential late. 6
4 Haw 21 hit-outs and two goals, relished freedom with the return of Lobbe. 6
5 Adel Three goals and 18 hit-outs, a more than reasonable effort. 6
6 WCE Didn’t make an impact up forward or in ruck. 5
7 Bris Didn’t put size to enough use against inexperienced/under-sized defence. 5
8 Rich Playing his role as the back-up ruckman but not as the second tall forward. 5
9 Achilles.
10 Achilles.

15 Coll His best game with the club, 35 hit-outs, three clearances, seven inside-50s. 7
16 Adel Port’s best target up forward, too tall for the small Crows defenders. 7
17 Ess Booed every time he touched ball. Quiet early but last laugh with four goals. 7
18 StK Should have done better with one goal from four attempts. 5
19 WB Nowhere near form of recent weeks, 18 hit-outs but just three marks. 3
20 GWS Getting better the longer the season progresses, won 46 hit-outs. 8
21 Haw Put on a rucking exhibition with tapwork. Poor kicking the only lowlight of a big night. 8
22 GCS Booted an early goal but that was as good as it got for the night. 3
23 Frem Worked well in tandem with Lobbe, lots to build on for 2016. 6

12 GWS Did the greater share of Bomber ruckwork, but lowered colours. 5
13 Melb Spent time in the ruck and attack, and wasn’t at his best in either role. 4

17 Coll Solid worker in the ruck. 5
18 WB Huge game in setting the side up around ball and added two goals for good measure. 8

20 Rich Started well then Maric started to wear him down. Only one possession in final term. 6
21 WCE OK in ruck without setting the world on fire. 4
22 GCS Dominated at times. Athleticism worried the Suns. Iced game with two late goals. 8
