2017 Season

1 Coll The former scrapper and now polished if still underrated mid was unobtrusively effective again. 7
2 Syd Genuine star now. When side needed something done he did it, including key goal late after lucky deliberate behind free kick. 8
3 Frem Knocked out in the second term and didn’t return. 3
4 NM AFL’s most unobtrusive superstar lifted when it came to the crunch. Second half was huge in context of tight game. 7
5 Bris Got going after sluggish start to be a factor. Then again expect nothing else from the underrated star. 7
6 GWS But his recent standards had a quiet one. Only eight effective disposals, no goals and three inside-50s. 4
7 Rich Not a huge game and tapered at the end, but made a contribution. 5
8 WCE Got his job done with little fuss. Finished with 25 disposals. 7
9 Geel Unusually quiet in first half then huge third term helped side back into the game. Quiet again in final term. 5
10 StK Looked intent in making his mark on the game but it didn’t fall his way early. Came good later. 6
11 Bye.
12 Syd Had a dip but wasn’t as clean as he normally is and ball use was off. Went at just over 50%. 5
13 Melb Despite grabbing 23 disposals he just isn’t having the same impact as last season. One goal and six tackles. 5
14 NM Six possessions and a goal in first half. Injured in third term but returned. Kicked three, but still below finals efforts of last year. 5
15 WCE Permanent forward starved of opportunities early but worked into the game undaunted. 5
16 Adel Always puts his head over the footy, despite four inside-50’s hardly got near it. 5
17 Carl Played across half forward and got dangerous enough for a goal and 18 disposals. Two tackles. 6
18 GCS Booted a career-high six goals – including four in the first half. Suns had no answer for him. 9
19 Ess Only five disposals in opening half but lifted after main to break to end with 17. Not his best but gave something. 4
20 Bris Never far from the action and kicked the Bulldogs’ first two goals and the last for the match. 6
21 GWS Still unable to replicate form of last year. One nice mark but didn’t impact Giants to any great degree. 3
22 Port Played a role at half forward but not a massive impact. Huge grab in defence in final 10 minutes. 5
