2016 Digest:   Struggled for opportunities in 2015 and when they came, he was unable to make the most of them. Form across half back at VFL level was OK, but presented in great nick for pre-season however an injury slowed his progress a touch. A big season in final year of his contract looms.

2016 NAB Cup:   One of Casey’s best in trial loss to Williamstown but appears well down the pecking order.

2016 Season

Played for : Melbourne

1 Played in Casey intra-club.
2 Played in VFL trial against Box Hill.
3 VFL Goalled nicely on the run and gave a bit of drive with his 21 touches. -
4 VFL Streamed off half back like a freight train. One of his best games in years. -
5 VFL Rebounded well from the back half but turned it over a bit. At least took the game on. -
6 VFL Worked hard without being a standout across half back. -
7 VFL Customary run off the back for his 20 odd possessions in win. -
8 VFL Seven inside-50s and eight tackles a good sign of balanced afternoon’s work. -
9 VFL Not as influential as he has been with ball in hand, but defensive work was sound. -
10 VFL Bye. -
11 VFL Pushed forward to kick two vital goals and won his fair share of ball. -
12 VFL No impact at all running out of defence and had number taken in final term. -
13 VFL Needed to be more polished with disposal in back half. -

15 VFL Played a few different roles and wasn’t able to find a great deal of space. -

17 VFL Kicked Casey’s first goal but had next to no impact thereafter. -
18 VFL Relished new role across half forward to end with four goals in big win. -
19 VFL Damaging in front half again with 24 touches, four goals. Relishing new role. -
20 VFL Enjoying attacking role and was handy again with a goal and 16 touches. -
21 VFL Wayward in front of the big sticks with 0.3 in rout of the Bees. -

23 VFL Kicked two goals and provided some good defensive pressure in attack. -

2014 Season

1 StK Ran down from half back to kick early goal. No great impact. 4
2 WCE Got plenty of it, did nothing with it. Defensively horrendous. 2
3 GWS Rightly copped big serve from coach over third term error. Hardly hit a target. 1
4 Carl Battled away before leg injury ended his day in third term. 3
5 GCS Needs a spell in VFL desperately. Decision-making and execution not up to standard. 2
6 Syd Can’t fault effort – tackled and harassed, but disposal still iffy. 6
7 Adel His run and carry through the midfield a highlight. 6
8 WB Made few mistakes and tackled hard before being KO’d by Jones. 4
9 Rich More of a link man as they moved the ball across half back. 4
11 Port Neither here nor there. Rebounded fairly well, but wasn’t a big factor. 5
12 Coll OK down back defensively, but still makes the odd nonsensical decision. 5
13 VFL Fair in VFL after being dropped. -

15 WB Defensive forward on Murphy with limited success. Subbed off with shoulder issue. 2
16 Frem Started in attack and was one of the Dees few winners roaming up the ground. 6

19 Bris Good numbers but struggled to push to each contest. Decision making poor. 3

2013 Season

1 PM Casey’s best in practice match loss with 33 disp. -
2 Ess Forgettable debut result but at least had a go. Not the worst. 4
3 WCE Had a go and provided some good run with 13 uncontested possessions. 6
4 GWS Made some mistakes but got to love the way he attacks the ball. Gave his all. 6
5 Bris Rebounded well off half back but made some costly poor decisions going forward. 6
6 Carl Made some blues that cost the Dees goals. A bit panicky down back. 3
7 GCS OK in defence. At least tried to provide something but decision making questionable. 5
8 Rich Good effort. Took it on all day and was willing to try things for the team. 6
9 Frem A trier but a panic merchant when he is confronted with pressure. 3
10 Haw Worked hard out of an under-siege back half – led side in rebound 50s (six). 6
11 Coll Made some fundamental errors. It’s a bit tougher at this level than SANFL. 3
13 StK Disposal may be questionable but no questioning his attack on the ball. 6
14 WB Mopped up in last line of defence time and time again. Star performer. 7
15 Syd Kept McGlynn goalless and mixed good and bad offensively. 7
16 Geel Found the going tough with permanently in the Cats forward half. Battled. 3
17 Bris Can’t fault his endeavour, but went to ground too often in big contests that cost goals. 3

19 GWS Mopped up in back half and used the ball much better but not overly influential. 5
20 GCS Beaten by Brown. Disposal needs a lot of work. 3
21 Frem Took game on with ball in hand but shown up defensively – not for the first time. 4

23 WB Lucky not to suffer neck injury after heavy landing after taking fine mark late in game. 5
