2016 Season

1 GWS Caught on Lobb a few times and struggled with his height, but defended fairly well otherwise. 6
2 Ess A putrid afternoon down back. Non-competitive in one-on-ones and made some bad errors. 1
3 VFL OK down back after being dropped. Didn’t make many mistakes and competed harder. -
4 VFL Steady again in defence with 24 possessions and six marks. -
5 VFL Didn’t help his chances of a senior recall. Missed too many targets for veteran player. -
6 VFL Did well down back in good win over Essendon. Composed and calm. -
7 GCS Did not stand out but played his role in defence after early mistake. 4
8 WB Made a couple of blues but also did well at times when stranded one-on-one. 4
9 Bris Lost a few contests too easily for a player of his experience, but OK in the back half. 5
10 Port Started down back but ineffective and copped a stray elbow from Dixon in final term. 4

12 VFL Led Casey with six inside-50s but wasn’t at his absolute best in the back half. -
13 VFL Made it look easy in the backline – nine marks and six rebounds. -

15 VFL Steady enough. Didn’t bang the door down for a recall however. -

17 VFL Numbers look good with 26 touches, but lack of leadership late was poor. -
18 VFL Much better outing in defence with 25 touches and provided drive. -
19 VFL Did his bit across half back but had very little to do overall. -
20 VFL Got a bit of the ball in back half and was steady defensively. -
21 VFL Ball use was perfect running out of defence. -
22 VFL Had 24 touches running off half back to play a handy role. -
23 VFL Rebounded well and made good decisions with ball in hand. -

2015 Season

1 GCS After a down summer bounced back with a wonderful effort in defence. 7
2 GWS Struggled in defence opposed to a number of Giants forwards. 3
3 Adel More than serviceable in the Demon’s back half. 6
4 Rich Back to his 2013 best. Closing checking and competed well. 7
5 Frem Clashed heads with Pavlich and was reasonable down back. 5
6 Syd Rough night on a few different opponents. Lacked confidence. 4
7 Haw Another of a besieged back half. Made a comical error in final term. 4
8 WB Among the better Demons, particularly early when the game was hottest. 6
9 Port Battled away down back under growing pressure. 6
10 Coll Injured hand in first term and that seemed to severely hamper his effort. 4

22 Frem One of the better performers. Defended stoutly. 6

2014 Season

4 VFL Got through comeback game in development league OK. -
5 VFL Nearing a return to the senior team. Played a solid game. -
6 VFL Had six possessions then left ground with a knock. -
7 VFL Continues to work back to full fitness. Not far away. -
8 WB Back after long injury absence and sturdy enough but Williams kicked three. 5
9 Rich Solid job. The Melbourne backline worked well to stop the key talls. 5
11 Port Still working back to full match fitness and had his hands full with Gray. 5
12 Coll Nearing full fitness in defence and showed good dash at times. 6
13 Ess Kept Winderlich in check but wasn’t a big attacking outlet going forward. 5
14 NM Made some poor errors in the first half but was a touch steadier late. 4
15 WB Made some ordinary decisions in first half but improved after main break. 5
16 Frem Stuck to task on Ballantyne and despite him booting three, battled hard. 5
17 Geel Did a fine job quelling Bartel down back and that was his key task. 6
18 Port Had an up and down season, but got back into some form. Strong and assured. 7
19 Bris Competed hard at half back but didn’t have an impact going forward. 3
20 Haw Looks like a player who missed all pre-season. Form nowhere near that of 2013. 3
21 GWS Looked a shadow of the player he was last year. Moved forward for a rare goal. 3
22 WCE Took LeCras and was led a merry dance. Injured knee and was subbed out. 2

2013 Season

1 Port Got lost far too often in defence and lacked urgency when required. 3
2 Ess OK early but confidence was sapped by half time. Body language wasn’t up to scratch. 2
3 WCE Had his colours lowered to Le Cras and is down on confidence. 4
4 GWS Huge last term helped side grab the win but had some head-scratching moments early. 6
5 Bris Built on previous week’s strong final term in defence. Solid enough. 6
6 Carl Took Betts who kicked four goals but at least kept batting. 5
7 GCS Battled hard on variety opponents. At least won some one-on-ones. 5
8 Rich Battled King among others and stood up well all match. Solid. 6
9 Frem Continues to give hope that with a better supporting cast, he can be pretty handy. 5
10 Haw Really stout defending Roughead who was lucky to end with three goals. 7
11 Coll Did a fine job on Cloke despite the weight of ball against. Among the best. 7
13 StK Strong game in defence and was Melbourne’s best. 7
14 WB Did what he had to alongside in-form Frawley. 6
15 Syd Great game. Not only thrashed Bolton but laid eight tackles and had four rebounds. 8
16 Geel Had variety of opponents and found all of them tough. Did what he could. 4
17 Bris A few different opponents as Lions tried to negate his rebound. Injured ankle. 5

19 GWS Followed Tomlinson and appeared to still be hampered by ankle issue. 4
20 GCS Started on Bock and assisted in tactics blocking Ablett in Suns forward line. 5
21 Frem Stuck close to his opponents and gave some run from behind. Not the worst. 6
22 Adel Playing in his 100th match and was serviceable. 6
23 WB Booted goal in first after 50m penalty against Campbell. Solid on backline. 6

2012 Season

1 Bris Did little but way of setting up play from half-back. Can play much better. 3
2 WCE Gave his all under extremely difficult conditions. 4
3 Rich Had hands full down back playing a revolving door of opponents. 3
4 WB On Cooney at start. Copped wrist injury early last term. 5
5 StK Surprise match-up on Milne and troubled. Fought back then injured. 6
6 Geel Found Johnson a tough match when on him. Tried hard but beaten. 4
7 Haw Surprise match-up on the more agile Rioli. Solid but unexceptional. 5
8 Syd Worked overtime trying to keep the red and white waves of attack at bay. 5
9 Carl Will kick himself Betts got off the chain. Until that point he had done well. 5
10 Ess Surprise match winner with two goals in attack in final term 7
11 Coll Forward experiment went on one week too long. Did nothing against 3
13 GWS Used forward again and is loving it – three goals and six marks a handy return. 6
14 Bris Used up forward again and was largely ineffective. 3
15 Rich One goal in first half and that was about it from him. 3
16 Frem Returned to defence and looked better but still not a big factor. 5
17 Port Steady down back apart form one howler. 5
18 NM Struggled to have any impact at either end. 2
19 GCS Defensively OK but didn’t offer much by way of attack or rebound. 4
20 StK Matched on Wilkes and Milne at different stages with varied success. 5
21 GWS Spent the entire match on the field and put in a solid defensive shift. 5
22 Adel Had little impact, struggled to shake the tight checking Crows’ defence. 4
23 Frem Didn’t see much of the foot. Just eight touches. 4
