2017 NAB Cup:

2017 Season

1 Syd Heat sure to come his way after a disappointing performance netted 14 disposals. Ended in defence. 4
2 Frem The swingman did as he pleased across halfback. 6
3 Adel Another Power player who was everywhere in the first half but struggled in the second. 5
4 GWS Tried to work Tomlinson up and down the ground and had some effect early. Quiet late. 5
5 Carl Mr Fix it just roams around the ground either kicking goals or taking uncontested marks in defence. 6
6 Bris Roamed around defence and cut off plenty of Lions attacking thrusts. 7
7 WCE Liking his game now that he is settled as a wingman/high halfback. Works his opponent into the ground with powerful gut running. 6
8 GCS Second term goal from boundary the best of 2017. Floated all over the ground without being tracked. 7
9 Bye.
10 Geel Threatened to tear the game open with his workrate. One player the Cats had trouble containing. 8
11 Haw Rotated ruck/forward and pushed back into defence to be a factor, albeit not a huge one. Didn’t kick a goal. 6
12 Ess Played all over the ground and was one of a few Port players to put up a fight. 32 touches. 7
13 Bris Copped a heavy knock late in the third quarter, he shrugged it off and returned to finish off the game well. 6
14 Coll Rotated ruck/forward and helped out down back at times. Did what the coach wanted without hitting any great heights. 4
15 Rich The ultimate swingman rotated between the fifty metre arcs and gave a chop out to Paddy Ryder too. 6
16 WCE Important as a link man. Had 23 disposals and kicked two goals. 7
17 NM One of the games hardest wingmen to match up on due to his size, game awareness and strength in front of goals. 7
18 Melb Given a gift goal by the umpire that got Port a bit of momentum. Made some bad errors and was off the boil. 4
19 StK Dropped back frequently early as Saints attacked, but overall not a factor. 3
20 Adel Got Port off to great start with the first goal of the game, their momentum didn’t last long. 5
21 Coll Just keeps getting the job done, whether as the third tall forward or pinch hitting in defence. 6
22 WB Played forward and ruck, but loose behind the play when kicking into the wind. Okay without starring. 5
23 GCS Just floats around doing his own thing and is rarely beaten in the air or on the ground. 6
EF WCE Started behind the ball and had some iffy moments with attack on the footy. Smart at stages. 5

2016 Season

1 StK Two goals, six tackles and five inside-50s, another impressive display 6
2 Adel Usually is a thorn against the Crows in Showdowns, but hardly sighted. 3
3 Ess Not out of sorts but not playing to the ability we know he can either. 5
4 GWS Worked hard at both ends of the ground, finishing with nine marks. 6
5 Geel Taylor was his master pretty much all night. Three kicks, no goals. Struggling. 2
6 Rich Used in ruck to support Howard then drifted forward. Took a few towering marks 7
7 Bris Three goals, and gave off another five. 6
8 Carl Loomed large at times in attack but didn’t get great supply. Kicked two for the day. 6
9 WCE Three inside-50s, eight tackles and a great snap for a goal capped his game. 5
10 Melb Excellent game in attack and pushing up the ground. Eight marks and 23 possessions. 7
11 Coll Drifted all over the ground to play a strong role. 27 possessions, four marks and a goal. 7
12 WB Three inside-50s and three scoring assists for the Power swingman. 6
13 Frem Booted two goals but rarely looked dangerous. 4
15 Rich Scored one of the great soccer goals to kick start the game. 6
16 Haw On the periphery, ready to take a game apart. 6
17 NM Huge start. Good game at centre half forward and flexible around field. 8
18 GWS One of his average games. Can do the spectacular but not on this occasion. 4
19 SANFL Had seven clearances but was a bit in-and-out on the day. -
20 Syd 200th game wasn’t one to remember on the scoresheet, and only had slight impact. 4
21 Melb Suffered a head knock in the first term and continued on courageously. 6
22 Adel Three inside-50s and a goal, could have been more damaging on the scoreboard. 6
23 GCS Started in attack before being swung into defence. 6

2015 Season

1 Frem Took some nice marks but not influential up forward. 5
2 Syd Stuck between half forward and the wing and not damaging enough yet. 6
3 NM Quiet first half drifting between attack and defence. Slightly better second half. 4
4 Haw Pushed back in defence when the Hawks were coming. 6
5 Adel Two goals, and gave off another. 6
6 WCE Not taking advantage of the third tall defender with his extra height. 5
7 Bris Could not stamp his authority on the game. Thrown on ball in last term. 5
8 Rich Threatened to tear the game apart on occasions but not consistent enough. 6
9 Melb After a slow start got right into the game in a welcome return to form. 7
10 WB A licence to roam free, either back in defence or up forward. 7
11 Geel Rivers was his master for most of the night. Two goals but one mark inside-50. 5
12 Carl Kicked first goal of match and two for game to go with nine marks. 6
14 Syd Two goals in first term and ended with three without stamping himself. 6
15 Coll Big first half with 22 disposals but faded in the second. 7
16 Adel Missed two goals he normally kicks. 5
17 Ess Hurley picked him up at start. Didn’t have big say overall but handy later. 5
18 StK Produced one of the goals of the year with a dribble kick tight on boundary. 8
19 WB Found it a little bit but three marks and one goal was a poor return. 5
20 GWS Benefitted from Ryder’s sole ruck display with two goals up forward. 6
21 Haw Drifted behind the ball and positioned himself well to halt Hawks’ attacks. 7
22 GCS Helped break the game open in third quarter with a couple of goals. 5
23 Frem When he plays well the Power usually win. 7

2014 Season

1 Carl Kicked five goals, including four in a devastating second-term burst. 9
2 Adel Not as dominant as the opening round but still managed a goal. 4
3 NM Never really got involved and was well held by Grima. 3
4 Bris Kicked three goals and set up four others. 7
5 WCE Matched up by Brown and worked hard up the ground to play a good role. 6
6 Geel No goals, which is hard to believe given team’s domination. 2
7 GWS In a forward line that had few troubles kicking goals, he was quiet. 4
8 Frem Had 18 disposals but not the type that hurt Freo. 5
10 Haw Four inside-50s and two scoring assists. 5
11 Melb Booted two goals and was OK without being at his match winning best. 5
12 StK Mr Fix It went wherever the team needed him. 7
13 Syd Roamed far and wide then picked up by Richards in attack. Good contributor. 7
14 WB Great foil for Jay Schulz with three goals. 7
15 Adel One goal from three attempts in the second term. 5
16 Ess Rotating between ruck and up forward but not hitting the scoreboard. 6
17 Rich Unable to get into the game until the second half and then was only fair. 4
18 Melb Mr Fix It. Will play where his team needs him, forward, in defence and ruck. 6
19 Coll Looked the man capable of winning it for Power in the third term. Faded. 6
20 Syd Did well to play considering he was on crutches the day before the game. 4
21 GCS High work rate pressing up the ground to make an option. Good effort. 7
22 Carl Strong marking and three goals in the forward 50 were a highlight. 7
23 Frem Strong in the air on Johnson. 6
EF Rich Started goal fest after just 90 seconds and the Power never looked back. 7
SF Frem Despite being stood by a shorter opponent couldn’t impact game up forward. 5
PF Haw Roamed up field from half forward to take six marks. OK, but not his best. 5

5 WCE Had his colours lowered by Brown and just couldn’t impose himself. 4
6 NM Grima never let him get into the game. 3
7 Rich Had his colours lowered by former teammate Chaplin. 5
8 Carl One of Port’s best again playing as mobile forward and swingman down back. 7
9 Geel Beaten by Taylor. Was never dangerous inside the forward 50 arc. 4
10 WB Roamed far and wide and impressed with his second efforts at ground level. 7
12 GWS Booted the first goal and took some nice marks, but not overly influential. 5
13 Syd Put the icing on the cake with his goal in the last term. 6

4 Coll Used in new role at half back from quarter time and did it really well. 7
5 Adel Stood up when his team needed him with four quality goals. 8
6 Rich Thrown onto the wing to give the Power some spark in the third term. 6
7 Frem Kicked one goal. It was tough to be a forward. 4
8 NM Kicked a crucial goal in the last term but apart from that was ineffective. 3
9 GCS Started well but drifted out of the game as it wore on. 3
10 Carl Unfairly targeted by Power fans but his importance to the side is crucial. 6
11 Haw Not his best game to mark his 100th at the highest level. 4
12 WB Deployed back and forward was ineffective in either role. 5
14 Geel Kicked two goals but Mackie and others had his measure – only two marks. 4
15 Adel Switched from the forward line, to the wing and then halfback. 4
16 Ess Great at times kicking three goals, but needs more consistency. 7
17 Melb Came into it in last quarter as pinch-hitter ruckman. Involved in several goals 5
18 Frem Kicked a goal late on but it was another average performance. 5
19 GWS Faded in and out of the game, but still returned 20 touches and 1.2. 4
20 Haw Gave Port a target across half forward and competed well for the most part. 5
21 WCE His laconic style can divide the fans but was one of Port’s best players. 6
22 Bris Kicked two of the best goals of his career weaving through traffic. 6
23 Rich Spent the day forward but no goals and only four marks. Frustrating. 4
