7 Carl Released from tagging duties after acclaimed job on Selwood the previous week. Murphy meanwhile had 30. 6
8 GWS Stood tight with Kelly and Shiel at stoppages but didn’t really stop either. Long day. 4
9 Haw What’s the point of playing this guy if he’s not tagging? Mitchell had it 51 times. 3
10 Bris Former Roo started well then faded out of the game after half time. Many of his 16 disposals came in opening 40 minutes. 5
11 Frem Looked sore all game. Played forward and gave them a target. 6
12 Melb Jagged two goals in first quarter then went missing high mountains style. Touched the ball eight times after quarter time. 4

18 WCE Provided blueprint on how to shut down Gaff. Stuck on him like superglue in wonderful tagging role. 7

1 Syd Competed hard in midfield trying to stem the tide. Eight tackles. Back to his best. 6
2 Rich Team-high seven clearances, four inside-50s, three tackles kept him involved all night. 6
3 StK Lifted noticeably after half time (17 disposals). Four inside-50s and three clearances. 6
4 Melb Battled hard but things didn’t fall for him. No clearances and three inside-50s. 5
5 Ess Went to Zaharakis for long periods and probably edged him out with two goals. 6
6 WCE Started well but drifted out of the match. 5
7 Carl Plodded along in midfield opposed to Murphy and resting in attack. 6
8 Bris Did little wrong in dominant Magpie midfield. 6
9 Geel Tagged Selwood and stuck to task brilliantly. Won the footy himself. 7
10 WB Had the crucial role on Bontempelli and totally locked him down in first half. 6
11 Port Unable to keep Port midfield opponents in check and ball use was wayward. 4
12 Melb Proving consistently inconsistent. Lifted slightly after half time when went to N Jones. 4
14 Frem Tagged Neale and kept him nailed down early but the Docker fought back. 5
15 Carl Ran with Gibbs and did a good job. Nine tackles was big. 7

1 PM Cracked in all day and led the way for the Tigers. -
2 WB Sub played key role in side’s match-winning burst in last quarter. Kicked goal. 3
3 Port Could not have done much more with 34 disposals and dominated the stoppages. 8
4 Syd Did some of the grunt work required, picking up 12 contested possessions. 5
5 Coll Started on Beams then went to rampant Sidebottom. Hard day for tagger. 4
6 Frem Ran with Mundy and stuck to task despite the Docker edging the contest. 5
7 GCS Ran with Ablett and made him accountable by getting forward. Gaz got him late though. 7
9 Bris Productive, hard working day. 7
10 Geel Probably Roos’ best – nine clearances, eight tackles, 18 cont poss. 8
11 WCE Showed he has a broader spectrum to his game in an attacking role. 7
12 Rich Brilliant job on Cotchin while still giving plenty offensively. Roos best. 8
13 Adel Ran with Dangerfield, won lots of possessions and snuck forward for goal. 7
14 Melb Massive again. Allowed a little more rein to play midfield and relished. It. 8

1 VFL Tireless worker in midfield. The best of the Roos players. -
2 VFL Well tagged and wasn’t able to get into the game. -
3 VFL Got the better of Martin in a shut-down role. -
4 VFL Had consistent day without being a standout. -
5 VFL Ran with Curran and was beaten. Collected 15 possessions. -
6 VFL Battled on hard against a strong Geelong midfield. -

8 VFL Tagged heavily but worked through it to have an impact. -
9 VFL Bye. -
10 VFL Had Sewell early then moved to Anthony. Did well on both. -
11 Solid worker in the Werribee midfield. Good in second half.
12 VFL Strong game again with 30 possessions and four tackles for the Bees. -
13 Frem Had specific tagging job on Fyfe and stuck to his guns. 4
14 GWS Shadowed Ward and did a fine job nullifying him. 6
15 Rich Handed task on Cotchin and struggled early but then clamped down to win battle. 7
16 Bris Did well on Rich early, but the Lion got off the chain in the final term. 5
17 VFL Tagged Shane Tuck and did a pretty good job. -

1 VFL Kicked a goal, got some much needed match fitness. -
2 VFL Worked hard at the stoppages to get the Tigers going. -
5 GCS Subbed on late in the game and found only 1 possession. 1
7 VFL Provided a good physical presence in the middle. -
8 Port Given the job to run with Travis Boak and won the day. 8
9 Bris Hard worker all over the field, but less effective in second half. 6
10 Haw Tagged Mitchell and given a lesson in inside midfield work. 3
12 GCS Was not really a factor. 3
13 VFL Struggled to have a great impact. Disappointing. -
