2014 Digest:   Facing a crunch year. Has shown glimpses over the past few seasons but hasn’t yet put it all together. Highly skilled on both sides, the South Australian needs a big NAB Challenge but didn’t get off to a great start when he suffered hamstring tightness in the warm-up against Collingwood.

1 PM First game back from injury and did well before subbed out. -
2 PM Worked hard forward of centre with 17 possessions. -
3 VFL Worked hard but didn’t have a huge night. -
4 VFL Battled hard in the midfield. -
5 VFL Didn’t have a big night. A bit of the ball but nothing outstanding. -
6 VFL Among the Cats best. Worked hard throughout. -
7 VFL One of the few Cats winners on a gloomy day. -
8 VFL Bye. -
9 VFL Kicked 2.3 and battled hard but lacked some polish. -
10 NM Stats limited but clean and showed some high skill when he had it. 4

3 VFL Injured hamstring and took no further part. -

9 VFL Linked well through the middle to keep the Cats in it. -
10 VFL Six clearances and two goals to go with his 20 possessions. -
11 GWS Didn’t set world on fire when needed to. Kicked a goal and laid five tackles. 4
13 Bris On as sub in third term and thrown into the middle but offered little. 1
14 Frem Won enough footy to stay involved without starring. Form improving. 5

1 VFL Played his role well and gave as good as he got. -
2 VFL Battled on well in the midfield without starring. -
3 VFL Ran hard at the ball and competed well. -
4 Rich Debutant looked polished with six last quarter possessions. 2
5 Bris Fine effort for inexperienced player in hard conditions. Looks a player. 5
6 Melb Kicked his first goal of career and after shaky start he found range. 6
7 Adel Found the going tough but still battled on and did a few nice things late. 4
8 Coll Set up a goal and looked lively in his limited game time. 2
9 WB Showed dash and poise when he had the footy through middle; seven tackles. 6
10 GWS Kid did OK with a goal and four inside 50s. Played a small role in the victory. 5
11 Carl Did what sub is supposed to do and provided some spark. 2
18 VFL First game back and fitted straight in. Good game. -
