3 Geel Hamstring injury in second term ended his day and perhaps team’s chances given lack of viable second option. 1

18 Port Put on a clinic in the first half, but hobbled by a knee issue after main break. Steadied the game late. 7
19 NM A real factor in the ruck against Preuss and Daw, but aside from Oliver, Dees mids couldn’t capitalise. 7
20 GWS Floated forward and had good first half in battle with Mumford. Marked well at stages. 7
21 StK Outdone in the ruck duels by Longer, but looked dangerous when floating forward. 6
22 Bris Lowered colors to Martin in first half, but then came out with more physicality in second half. Pass. 5

2016 Season

1 GWS Got the better of battle with Mumford in the end. Work at the centre bounces exquisite. 7
2 Ess Lowered colours to Leuenberger in ruck. Battled hard but not his best outing. 4
3 NM Smashed Goldstein in ruck contests but a touch lax defensively. Mammoth performance nonetheless. 9
4 Coll Dominant ruck effort highlighted by 13 hit-outs to advantage and two great contested marks. 7
5 Rich Monstered Maric. Had 18 hit-outs to advantage, kicked two goals and a huge presence. 9
6 StK Started brilliantly but then Hickey squared the duel. 5
7 GCS Put on a clinic in the ruck and helped assert midfield dominance. 9
8 WB Battled hard but had one of his quietest games of the year. Bronx cheer from fans. 3
9 Bris So-so outing opposed to West and Martin. Not the dominant performance expected. 5
10 Port Overpowered undersized Port duo in the ruck and pressed forward for two goals. Huge game. 8
11 Haw Even duel with Ceglar and McEvoy in ruck. Unable to impact with marking around ground. 6

15 Adel Even duel with Jacobs and may have just shaded it but Crows’ controlled stoppages. 6
16 Frem Influential from start with hit-outs to advantage and got involved at ground level. Back to best. 8
17 StK Hickey gave him a hiding in first half but did push forward for two goals to keep Dees close enough. 5
18 WCE Dominated the ruck and powerful in the air with his marking too. 8
19 GCS Obliterated Nicholls in ruck but didn’t have normal sticky hands in marking contests. 7

21 Port Relishing the contest within the contest, won the ruck battle convincingly. 8
22 Carl Didn’t dominate like he has been in ruck. Pushed forward for a mark and goal but just fair. 6

5 VFL Too big for Bomber defenders when in attack. Three goals. -
6 VFL Combined with Jamar to dominate hitouts. Took some good marks. -
7 VFL Just one goal and only a shade better than Jamar. -
8 VFL Best afield. 21 touches, 34 hitouts, three goals. -

10 Coll Rucked well – 17 hit-outs to advantage – to beat Grundy. Tried hard. 6
11 StK Good tussle with Longer in ruck but couldn’t catch a cold in a snow storm. 5
12 Geel Monsterous in the ruck. Ended with 19 disposals, six contested marks, 44 hitouts. 9
14 WCE Beaten by Naitanui but will have learned a bit. Not the worst. 5
15 Ess Controlled the air with 58 hit-outs, and found the ball 19 times around ground. 8
16 Bris Got the better of the Lions twin rucks in end. Marked strongly at times too. 7
17 StK Main ruckman on the ground and also did well around ground. 7
18 Coll Outstanding job rucking virtually solo against Grundy and Witts. 8
19 NM Battled hard to match Goldstein. Maybe just lowered colours but handy. 6
20 WB Much better in third term but rival Campbell roved a lot of his taps. 5
21 Carl Flogged by Kreuzer in first half. Work at stoppages good after main break. 5
22 Frem Rucked admirably against Sandilands. Had 21 disposals and kicked a goal. 7
23 GWS Got on top of Downie in ruck to give midfielders armchair ride. Hurt hip in final term. 7

7 VFL Rucked and spent time in attack. OK but not his best day. -

9 Rich Brilliant in the air. Took three huge grabs. Rucked well too. 7
11 Port Presented well in attack and was OK in spurts in the ruck before being subbed. 4
12 Coll Started deep in attack and rotated through the ruck. Tried hard. 5
13 VFL Monstered Wallace in the ruck to have 63 hitouts. -
14 VFL Got better of McEvoy in ruck duels but the Hawk was good forward. -
15 WB Rotated through ruck and up forward. Showed great skills with ball on the deck. 5
16 Frem Failed to impose himself at times when in better position. Subbed out. 2
17 VFL Absolutely monstered Bendigo in ruck with mammoth 80 hitouts. -
18 VFL Towering presence again. 23 disp, four goals, 39 hitouts. -

20 Haw Dangerous in attack with his height and reach. Kicked 2.3 and looked the part. 7

1 PM First game back. Limited game time, left field early. -
2 VFL Dominated the ruck and spent time up forward. A big tick. -
3 VFL Strong effort again in the ruck and around ground. -
4 GWS Massive positive. Rucked well, marked strongly and hit the scoreboard (two goals). 7
5 Bris Showed a bit again up forward and had spurts in the ruck. One to watch. 6
6 Carl Good early and provided a presence up forward. Faded in second half. 4
7 GCS Kicked two goals and good early but faded badly as he did week before. 5
8 Rich Stationed forward but didn’t get into the game at all – two marks. 1
9 Frem Couldn’t get into the game to any real degree. 2
10 VFL Imposing game. 15 disp, nine marks, 39 hit-outs and 4.3. -
