1 Melb Lowered his colours to the dominant Gawn. Didn’t have usual impact around ground. 4
2 WCE Dominated the ruck. Had 44 hit-outs and gave St Kilda a presence when they needed it. 8
3 Bris Had a tough day opposed to Martin in the ruck, who claimed the bragging rights. Marking is non-existent. 4
4 Coll Battled hard against the superior Grundy taking five marks and making 25 hit-outs to stay involved. 5
5 Rested.
6 VFL Controlled the ruck against the Magpie talls with 36 hitouts and 18 possessions. -
7 VFL Injured his knee in the first half and played no further part. -

11 VFL The best of the ruck with 29 hitouts, but dominance didn’t translate to stoppage superiority. -
12 VFL Beaten in the ruck and was just fair around the ground. Struggling for form. -

15 VFL Best afield in tight win. 52 hitouts, 21 possessions and a goal. -

19 VFL Reasonable day as the first choice ruck with 28 hitouts and 15 disposals. -
20 VFL Got on top in the ruck once Spencer left. Had 55 hitouts and 21 possessions. -

22 VFL Okay in ruck battle with Hampson and Maric. One of the Zebs better players. -
23 Didn’t play for Sandringham.

2016 Season

1 Port The dominant big man on the ground with 57 hit-outs. Great start to season. 8
2 WB Beaten by Roughead in ruck battle. Longer will be breathing down his neck again. 3
3 Coll Jumped into Grundy all day and grew in confidence as the game wore on. Couple of nice marks. 6
4 Haw Battled hard in even ruck duel with McEvoy and Ceglar. 5
5 GWS Doing well in ruck till he landed heavily on coccyx. Kept going but restricted. 5
6 Melb Gawn’s start was worrying, but he worked diligently and had a major input. 6
7 NM Held his own against competition’s best ruckman Goldstein. 6
8 WCE Blitzed early in ruck by Naitanui. Not enough impact around ground. 4
9 Ess Leuenberger had the edge in ruck taps, but the pair broke even around the ground. 5
10 Frem Best ruckman on the ground as was instrumental in late turnaround. 6
11 Adel Jacobs took him to the cleaners early, but creditable fight-back in ruck. 5
12 Carl Had the ascendancy over Kreuzer and played perhaps his best game. Clever taps. 8
14 Geel Big workload against so many talls but battled manfully and gave a strong display. 6
15 GCS Opponent Nicholls took control from quarter time. Quiet. 3
16 Ess Looked to be hurt early, but showed admirable resilience and dominated hitouts. 6
17 Melb Terrific game in the ruck against the in-form Gawn. Great second efforts. 8
18 WB In tremendous form in ruck and was a prime mover. 8
19 NM This time lowered his colours to Goldstein in general play and ruck duels. 4
20 Carl Despite speculation over fitness was dominant ruck on the field. 8

1 Adel Interchanged between ruck and forward but was not a factor. 3
2 StK Threw himself in and showed a bit but ran out of puff as expected. 3
3 NEAFL Rucked well and also drifted forward. -
4 NEAFL Not as good as last week but had a go. -
5 NEAFL Conditions didn’t suit the big man. -
6 NEAFL Ruck work earned praise from the coach. -
7 NEAFL Battled hard in the ruck to give onballer first use. -
8 NEAFL Great work in the ruck and controlled the stoppages. -
10 Coll Showed plenty although beaten by Wood. Second half really solid: eight marks. 6
11 StK A good marking target up forward against the odds. 6
12 NM Played a secondary role in ruck and tried to involve teammates more. 4
14 WCE Showed something against Cox and Naitanui with three contested grabs. 5
15 Geel Youngster competed well but didn’t get a whole lot of the pill. 3
