2017 Season

1 GCS Zippy across half forward and applied plenty of pressure inside 50. Booted crucial late goal. 5
2 Ess Big third quarter but otherwise minimal impact. Reluctance to use his left foot on a fast-break in attack the last quarter was costly. 5
3 StK Sold teammates into trouble a few times with hospital passes or poor kicks. Has to hurt opponents more than he does. 5
4 Rich Bagged a goal in general play in third quarter but otherwise effort lacked impact. 5
5 WB Whenever he got the ball Dogs’ fans got nervous given his ability to find space. Snagged one great goal from 22 disposals. 7
6 Port Roamed across half forward and accumulated 26 possessions and booted a goal. 7
7 Syd Gave Lions some life at half forward and tried hard throughout. Far from the worst. 6
8 Haw Found himself in some good spots at times but only gathered nine disposals. Not a great day. 3
9 Adel Got his hands on the ball 26 times but impact was minimal. Shown to lack genuine foot speed at times. 5
10 Coll Flitted in and out of the contest but in the end it was a disappointing effort; 13 possessions just not enough. 4
11 Bye.
12 Frem Revelled in the wet, slippery conditions. Had four goals and five scoring assists. Will do his confidence the world of good. 7
13 Port Did some nice work around the outside of stoppages where his speed and footy brain were on show. 6
14 GWS Clever goal in second term and showed glimpses of his Rising Star best. Withstood a big hit from Mumford. 6
15 Ess Often set up running off back of square. Hard working and creative. 6
16 Geel Stunned by heavy head knock in third term. Bobbed-up now and then and far from the worst. 6
17 Rich Clearly the Lions best and one of his better outings since his debut year. Always looked to play with positivity. 8
18 Carl Got on his own a hell of a lot. Only downside his tendency to be a bit selfish in front of goal. 6
19 WCE Calm with the footy and collected 26 touches. A good contributor. 7
20 WB On fire in the first half. Made one glaring error late in the game which caused a turnover and ended Lions’ hopes of winning. 6
21 GCS One of his best for the season. Had 100 per cent disposal efficiency until three quarter-time. Kicked two goals and beat Sexton. 9
22 Melb Horrid first half but did lift his output after main break to end with 22 disposals and five inside-50s. 6
23 NM Chipped in with some handy work at times without being influential. 5

2016 Season

1 WCE Kicked three goals and never stood still. Worked hard. 6
2 NM Ran himself into the ground and booted two goals. 8
3 Geel Got loose at times but got as lot of footy across half back. Didn’t hurt Cats forward of centre. 4
4 GCS Rarely got freedom under the watch of Sexton. 4
5 WB Got a bit of the ball but lacked any real impact across half forward. 4
6 Syd Never really unleashed. Hassled by McVeigh, Jones and Mills at different times. 4
7 NEAFL Bye. -
8 Coll Where has his speed gone? Had five of his 12 disposals in last term. Not good enough. 4
9 Melb Ran hard to provide an option across half forward/wing but let himself down with disposal. 5
10 Haw Ran hard and lively up forward with three well-deserved goals. 6
11 Carl A shadow of the kid that took out the Rising Star award a few seasons back. 4
12 Frem Did get the footy but not penetrating or damaging. 4
13 WCE Highlight was a brilliant shaped dribble goal and overall played in patches. 5
14 Rich Got forward of the ball at times, but also tried to do too much as well. Two goals. 5
16 GCS Had a couple of score assists but fairly quiet. 3
17 Ankle.
18 Ankle.
19 Port Completely off the boil. Four touches until half time, nine for the match. Minimal impact. 4
20 Adel One goal and little else, playing with very little confidence. 4
21 Carl Found it hard to have an influence even when Brisbane was on control of game. 4
22 Geel One contested possession and one goal but in end it was a disappointing game. 4
23 StK Only three kicks for the day and well below par. 3

2015 Season

1 Coll Showed his usual spark and fight for the ball. 5
2 NM Sharp early. The livewire broke clear at times. 6
3 Rich Subbed-in in third term. Battled away but never got into a groove. 3
4 WCE Got going after half time but too little too late. 6
5 GCS Butchered the footy, which spoilt his night. 4
6 Carl Best game of the year. Worked hard to link with the midfielders. 7
7 Port Used his speed to advantage. Vital link man through middle. 7
8 Ess Started OK but then tapered. 4
9 StK Work-rate solid but his disposals were not damaging enough. 7
10 GWS Won his battle with Scully. 31 possessions but didn’t lay a single tackle. 7
12 WB Very active early and had a lot of the ball in the open. Hard worker. 7
13 Adel Used speed to break game open early. Tired in last term though which hurt. 7
14 Frem Kicked a smart late goal and was clean with ball in hand in tough conditions. 6
15 Syd Five effective disposals in opening half and 10 for game. Well below best. 5
16 Melb Work-rate good but wasteful with the ball at times. At least effort was first rate. 6
17 NM Played with usual feverish speed and passion but some costly turnovers. 7
18 Geel Kicked two nice goals late to ease the margin. Otherwise quiet. 5
19 GCS Did his best work late otherwise below average night. 5
20 Carl Subdued even though Lions had control for most of the game. 4
21 Adel Good but not great; has huge expectations of himself. 6
22 Haw Creative at stages but wasn’t afforded room to move. 4
23 WB Used his speed to perfection and chimed in with three goals. 6

2014 Season

1 Haw Sub. On for Close and only had a handful of touches. 1
2 Geel Showed flashes of his class and looks a real player – four clearances. 6
3 GCS Not the worst, kicked a goal and presented well. 4
4 Port Given time the player has what it takes to be a genuine match winner. 5
5 Rich Showed sharp skills and created at times. Finished with sore shoulder. 4
6 StK Started impressively and looked sharp at ground level. 5
7 Syd Not much impact. 4
8 Ess Speed and sharpness caused problems for Essendon. 5
9 NM Lively again and among the better Lions. 6
11 Carl Got away from Buckley a few times with pace. 4
12 WB Smart effort and looked composed when the pressure was on. 6
13 GWS Once again very lively and positive with disposal. 6
14 Frem Flashed in and out and was better than most. 5
15 NM Collected a third of his touches in last term when Lions under the pump. 6
16 Rich Found space and used his pace every time he could. Six inside-50s and a goal. 6
17 WCE Flattened in second quarter by Sinclair bump. Recovered and pulled his weight. 6
18 GCS Busy and lively in attack and managed a goal as well. 5
19 Melb Composed with ball in hand on a day when most others lost their heads. 6
20 Adel So-so effort. 5
21 Coll Ran hard but didn’t always finish off his work with precision. Work-rate huge. 6
