Dream Team Profile

2013 Digest:   Enters the last year of a lucrative contract and needs to find form and do it quickly after a disappointing 2012 campaign netted just eight games. Key will be finding a home having been tried everywhere from forward and midfield to on-ball. Could surprise, then again, a disappointing performance in first NAB Cup outing.

2013 NAB Cup:   One of club’s highest paid players although is anything but a lock for best 22. Form been just.

2013 Season

Played for : Melbourne

1 Senior emergency.
2 Ess Gave some spark in the forward half for a side bereft of inspiration. 5
3 WCE Lively for a patch second-quarter but beaten by Butler. Subbed out. 4
4 GWS Sub. Provided some much-needed spark with two goals in final term. 3
5 Bris Sub. On late in the third term and kicked a goal. 1
6 VFL Did some good things forward, but was in and out. -
7 GCS Sub. On third term but missed a sitter and another late in game. 1
8 Rich Turned clock back with three-goal first half. Best game for some time. 7
9 Frem OK again but didn’t have a great deal of support. One of the few to hit a target. 5
10 Haw Found a bit of the footy but wasted it at times. Certainly not the worst. 5
11 Coll Brilliant goal in first term and another in last. Not much in between. 3
13 StK Bobbed up occasionally around wings to chip in here and there. 4
14 WB Big third quarter. Enthusiasm infectious among teammates (and fans). 6
15 Syd Couldn’t get away from Smith and only one goal and two inside-50s. 3
16 Geel Hardly sighted with T. Hunt in his pocket – one effective disposals says it all. 1
17 Bris Kicked two goals and clean with ball in hand as always. 5
18 NM Had a shocker and subbed mid-way through the third. 1
19 GWS Sub. On in the third term and got involved in patches. 2
20 GCS Added some spark and fresh legs when he came on in final term. 2
21 Frem Provided spark coming on as the sub. Used ball well and worked hard. 4
22 Adel Started as the sub in his second to last game and is running on the spot. 3
23 WB Retiring champ chaired off with son Marley in arms by Sylvia and Jetta. In best. 6

2012 Season

Played for : Melbourne

1 Bris Had as many tackles as kicks (three) in first half. Only goal in junk time. 3
3 Rich Not sure what next step is for the veteran. No impact whatsoever. 2
4 WB Couple of flashy goals but little else. 3
5 StK Geary picked him up at first. Again showed signs he is on the way back. 5
6 Geel At the cross-roads. Hard to believe the player he has become. Struggled. 3
7 Haw Very quiet first half and it got only marginally better. 3
8 Syd Made one good smother, but otherwise useless in indigenous round. 1
10 VFL Back to some decent form. Lively around the packs. -
11 VFL Starred early before being rested for the second half. -
13 GWS Stats not huge but coach would be pleased with his pressure – five tackles. 6
15 VFL Great start but influence waned after main break. -
