2016 Digest:   Produced occasional sparks in his first season with the Bombers but hamstring and ankle problems took out half the year. It was fortunate that he was retained as events subsequently unfolded. Over summer he has battled variety of issues including a knee and missed training time. Modified program but joined in full training last week.

2016 NAB Cup:   Plans were to use him in just one NAB Challenge game but he got through two.

2016 Season

Played for : Essendon

1 GCS OK across half forward, and will improve as match fitness is gained. 5
2 Melb Nine of his 20 touches came in the final term, which was a very handy time to produce. 5
3 Port Lively around the stoppages winning seven clearances. 6
4 Geel Run and carry superb all day and gave the Cats headaches. Working into season well. 7
5 Coll Won a bit of the footy, but didn’t hurt the Pies. 4
6 Carl Great game. Ran hard, created play and ended with five clearances and four tackles. 7
7 Syd Wasted a lot of his possessions and made a few uncharacteristic errors. 4
8 NM Worked all over ground. One goal, four inside-50s and steady ball use a highlight. 6
9 StK Handy game from the veteran and kept getting hands on the ball. 6
10 Rich Tried hard but under pressure a lot and as a result his effectiveness was well down. 5
11 Frem Tried hard in congestion. Won six clearances. 5
12 Haw Years have taken toll and while he keeps battling away he can’t influence game. 4
13 GWS Huge effort. Cracked in from start to finish and never stopped trying. Five inside-50s. 7
15 WCE Essendon needed more from an experienced player. 4
16 StK Had a terrific first half and then his output tapered. 6
17   Rested.  
18 Bris Struggled at times to cover the ground and missed two shots for goal in second term. 5
19 Adel Played as the sweeper well across half back. 7
20 Geel One-time burst player is these days lacking in power. Tried hard but impact not enormous. 5
21 GCS Rough first half and didn’t have much of an impact overall. 4
22 WB In 250th and final game was well worth his place and kicked terrific snap 5

2015 Season

Played for : Essendon

1 Syd Big first quarter capped by booming torpedo goal. Played his part. 5
2 Haw Strong start but impact waned as Hawks made their comeback. 5
3 Carl Subbed out in third quarter and an even effort without starring. 4

8 Bris Handy game with three goals and plenty of the ball. 5
9 Rich Had it 16 times but failed to make any real impact on the contest. 4
10 Geel Two goals but often under pressure and hence effectiveness down. 5
11 WCE Made some bad decisions with ball in hand. 5
13 Haw Flitted in and out. Six inside-50s, one goal and three clearances. 5
14 StK Looked dangerous early, but subbed off in third term 3
15 VFL Hamstring.
16 VFL Hamstring.
17 VFL 24 possessions and a goal. Looked to be fitter.
18 WB Three inside-50s and couple of dashes but lacked penetration. Struggling. 4
19 GWS Kicking for goal was poor but got a bit of the ball before late report for high bump. 5

2014 Season

Played for : Western Bulldogs

1 WCE Skippered side and he worked super hard – seven inside-50s. 7
2 NM Slotted lovely goal on run in opening seconds of second quarter. Eight tackles. 6
3 Rich Vintage attack on the ball for nice goal. 6
4 GWS Just the 17 touches and was missing the burst that made him a star. 5
5 Carl Bursts of pace were reminiscent of his best days. 6
6 Adel Seemed to be back to his hard running best in midfield. 7
7 Ess Kicked a goal from 26 touches. Had a good night. 7
8 Melb Four inside-50s, a goal and great effort around the stoppages. 7
10 GCS Had 19 possessions but lacked hurt factor. Defensive running a worry. 4
11 Frem One of the Dogs’ best with 26 disposals and five clearances. 6
12 Bris Kicked a late goal but struggled to have a big impact across the night. 5
13 Coll Injured his hamstring in the first term and got subbed out. 3

19 Haw Langford didn’t let him have a sniff early. Rarely sighted then subbed off. 2

22 Syd Played in bursts and couldn’t keep up with slick Sydney midfield unit. 5
23 GWS Broke away a bit more in second half but efficiency was down. 5

2013 Season

Played for : Western Bulldogs

1 Bris Worrying limp early but OK and had some trademark breakaways. 7
2 Frem Gathered lots of ball but much of it was in defensive 50. Workrate good. 7
3 Rich Kicked two classy goals and tried hard throughout but had few mates. 6
4 Adel Kicked two goals and was a thorn in the Crows side all afternoon. 8
5 Geel Kicked two goals but effectiveness was down a little overall. 5
6 WCE Strove hard and honestly in the middle. 7
7 NM Good in bursts off the wing, but had two quiet quarters. 5
8 GCS Huge first half but faded as most of his teammates did in the second. 7

12 Coll Started as extra across half back and picked up touches early 5
13 Rich Gave glimpses of returning to former self. Solid outing without starring. 6
14 Melb Slammed through two goals in quick succession as Bulldogs stormed home. 6
15 GWS Started slowly, but worked his way into the game to be influential. 7
16 Ess Had some run in the legs and used his wheels mainly from the back half. 7
17 Haw Cruised around off half back helping himself to 33 unassuming disposals. 7
18 WCE Showcased some zip that won him a Brownlow and had five clearances/one goal 8
19 Syd Productive on wing early and maintained strong output. 7
20 Carl Worked into the game, and by the end was running on top of the ground. 7
21 Adel Couple of runs conjured memories of his Brownlow Medal season. Marked well. 7

23 Melb Worked diligently to gather 30 possessions and kick two goals. 7

2012 Season

Played for : Western Bulldogs

1 WCE Kicked one lovely running goal and had 20 touches. Will get better. 6
2 Adel Running back into form as a half forward to protect his troublesome knee. 6
3 StK More prominent in second half. 5
4 Melb Creative in forward half. Crook knee has taken edge off but productive. 7
5 GWS Looked to be moving better, 27 touches and two goals. 7
6 Coll Had 20 touches but again his knees reduced breakaway speed. 5
9 Geel Showed some dash at times and gave plenty of cheek from half forward. 6
10 Syd Found plenty of the ball, but 56 per cent disposal efficiency tells his tale. 4
12 Port Dangerous at time bursting from half forward – five inside-50s and clutch goal. 7
13 Bris Failed to kick a goal and didn’t get enough of the ball to hurt the Lions. 4
14 Ess Started at full forward to run Fletcher around. Battling against knee problem. 5
21 Syd Sub. Tough to say but it’s sad to see him struggling around. 1
22 Geel Gave fans hope with an encouraging effort – six inside-50s, four clearances. 7
