2017 Season

1 Adel Couldn't handle the athleticism of Mitch McGovern. 4
2 GCS Followed Wright for much of the night and did a fine job to limit his impact in attack. Bounced back well. 7
3 NM Scrapper’s game in defence. One desperate tackle saved what looked a certain goal. 3
4 Port Okay down back tracking Westhoff and co. up the field. Didn’t get as much ball as we know he can. 5
5 Syd Steady game without being a standout. 5
6 WB Defender did his job without starring. Got into some good spots but not a lot from him on the rebound side. 5
7 StK Key defender took Riewoldt and had him covered no problems. Along with Davis helped keep Saints at bay for long periods. 7
8 Coll Dogged defensive effort on the dangerous Ben Reid 5
9 Rich Shifted to Riewoldt at stages and was handy in back half. Won some key contests in final term. 6
10 WCE Good effort on Darling. Competed strongly. 5
11 Ess Had a go on a few Essendon talls and while he tried hard, wasn’t his best outing. 5
12 Carl Key back worked again a variety of opponents but wasn’t a huge factor. Okay but is a dour type. 5
13   Bye.
14 Bris Had some success watching over Lester and Hipwood although just 10 disposals. 5
15 Geel Took variety of opponents and did what he had to. Took some nice marks and used the ball well out of the back half. 6
16 Haw Thought the Giants could have chewed the clock up when he took a late mark. 14 marks and 24 disposals a lot of the footy. 7
17 Syd Two first quarter turnovers which cost goals, but did a reasonable job on Sam Reid. 5
18 Rich Tall defender plugged away all day but issue is he doesn’t win enough ball to hurt the opposition. 4
19 Frem Not a good day for him, as his 11 disposals went at just 54per cent. 2
20 Melb Part of a back six that had life made easier for them by the wind and the way Melbourne played. 6
21   Rested.
22 WCE Wore Darling like a cheap suit and his endurance stood out late when he won some key contests. 6
23 Geel Hard-nosed backman tried hard but in the end the weight of possessions against was telling. 4
QF Adel Got on his bike following Lynch to cover lots of ground. The Crow got the better of the matchup. 4
SF WCE Went to Darling and relegated him to being basically a spectator. Didn’t win much of his own ball though. 7
PF Rich Showed some dash from the back half but unfortunately his disposal let him down at times. 6

2016 Season

11 Geel AFL massive step-up from NEAFL and wasn’t a factor. Ten effective disposals. 4
12 NEAFL Got into the right positions to take nine marks, but ball use by foot needed to be better.
13 NEAFL Maintained a consistent work-rate, but was wasteful in front of goal with 2.3.
14 NEAFL Among Giants’ best players. Hard worker in midfield and up forward, kicking three goals.
15 NEAFL Bye.
16 Coll Not significant in his return to the side in defence. 3
17 Bris Solid in defence on Schache and did what was required. 5
18 Port One of two Giants players which didn’t lay a tackle, played his part in defence. 5
19 Rich In and out of game playing mostly in back half. 4
20 GCS Did as required of him in defence without being very attacking. 3
21 WCE Did a good job overall down back on the resting ruckman. Ball use was spot on too. 6

PF WB Had Cordy covered all night and did what he was required to do. 5

15 StK Strong job at centre half back on Riewoldt. 6

19 NEAFL Kicked three goals and showed good workrate as usual.

12 Ess Started in attack matched on Carlisle. Kicked big goal at crucial stage. 5
13 Bris Proved an awkward match-up in attack. 5
14 Carl So tough to match up on, he used the ball at almost 90 per cent efficiency. 6
15 Syd It has been a much-improved season from him, but might need a rest. 4
16 Adel Did OK as a forward – doesn’t receive accolades of others. 5
17 Frem Ran with Mundy/Fyfe but was swamped as the Dockers got right on top. 4

12 Port Provided a great option leading up from half forward with 12 marks. His best game yet. 7
14 NM Used forward and in ruck. Had a crack and handy at time around the ball. 5
15 WB Used in defence, he also had the unenviable task of backing up Giles in the ruck. 5
16 NEAFL Used through the midfield and did fairly well in a foreign role.
17 Ess Has taken great strides this season, one of the Giants' best again. 7
18 Coll Started forward but moved back after Mohr went down. Composed under pressure. 6
