2016 Digest:   Still highly rated for his ability to play on talls and smalls down back, but will face stiff competition for his place this season from more skilled youngsters. A free agent at the end of the season.

2016 NAB Cup:   Did what was required down back but will need to start very well with a host of youngsters breathing down his neck.

2016 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1   Played in VFL trial against Coburg.  
2   Played in VFL trial against Geelong.  
3 VFL Won more ball than normal in defence and would be a chance to make return.
4 Melb Went to Watts but struggled to contain him in the first half. Not a great return to senior football. 3
5 Ess Four kicks and in context of game was quiet. Will be a lot busier next week. 3
6 WCE Well beaten by the classy LeCras. 3
7 Carl Went to Walker and was led to the ball twice early but then knuckled down to do the job. 5
8 Bris Shut down Green and had some success when standing Zorko. 6
9 Geel Battled Menzel for a lot of the day and performed that role pretty well all afternoon. 5
10 WB Heavy head knock early in second term and off with concussion..Didn’t get back. 1
11 Port Had hands full all afternoon with Port’s nippy small forwards. 4
12   Senior emergency.  
13 VFL Bye.
14 VFL Did his job defensively and provided a bit of rebound from the back half.
15 VFL Rock solid in backline before getting knocked out in third term.
16 VFL Provided solid drive out of defence and was reasonably clean with disposal.
17 VFL Old stager did what was asked without getting coaches too aroused.
18 VFL Bye.
19 VFL Rebounded well off half back and locked down opponents tightly.
20 VFL Steady game at half back and never gave an inch to Coburg opponents.
21 VFL OK without starring in the back half.
22 VFL OK down back without starring and announced retirement post-game.
23   Rested.  

2015 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1 Bris Just four touches until half time was a concern. Improved in second half. 5
2 Adel Found Dangerfield a handful but stuck at it valiantly. 4
3 StK Tradesmanlike display. 6
4 Ess Offensively not a big day but laid seven tackles to keep pressure on. 4
5 Carl Not a big game but did his bit. 5
6 Geel Good first quarter against the tide. Can’t fault endeavour. 4
7 Rich Hamstring went early in game and subbed out. 1
8   Knee.  
9 NM Tracked Thomas who roamed up the field. Had some key contests late. 5
10 Melb Garlett’s leg speed caused him some issues at times but did Ok in wash-up. 5
11 GWS Attacked ball well off half back and nullified opponents. 6
13 Frem Unlucky to have Walters kick goals on him as he did a sound job. 5
14 Haw Went to Rioli in third term. OK but couldn’t completely quell the gun. 4
15 Port Had the unfortunate task of lining up on Wingard. 5
16 WCE Picked up Darling, his usual assignment, and did OK. 5
17 WB Beaten by Dickson who made his touches count. 4
18 Melb Garlett got the better of him a couple of times but also won a few contests. 5
19 Carl Followed Walker for long periods and did a decent job. 7
20 Syd Stuck close to Rohan and made him earn everything. 6
21 Rich Went to Lloyd after quarter time and at least quelled his influence. 5
22   Rested.  
23 Ess Sub. On in third term. Took a few nice marks but little time to influence game. 1

2014 Season

1 Frem Battled Walters early and OK quelling him then ran with Ballantyne. Only one kick. 2
2 Syd Didn't get much of the ball but kept O'Keefe in check. 5
3 Geel One rare goal in a steady four-quarter performance. 6
4 Rich Shadowed Edwards and did a good job. Chooses the right options. 6
5 NM Chased Thomas for most of the day and did that job well. 7
6 Ess You don’t notice what he does but the little things hold backline together. 5
7   Hamstring.  
8   Hamstring.  
9 Adel Had Betts well covered given weight of footy against in second half. 6
10 WCE Punched above his weight to keep Darling to a goal in a fine effort. 7
11 StK Kept an eye on Billings. Kid got away a few times but no damage done. 4
12 Melb Had a variety of bigger opponents. Defensively OK but little else going other way. 4
13 WB Great effort on Crameri. Did his usual job. 6
14 Haw Matched up on Breust for long periods and failed to curb the Hawk. 3
15 Carl Kept Menzel to a goal and gave drive, although kicking not always on target. 7
16 GCS Unable to get into the groove. 2
17 Ess Normal honest game but not significant. 4

2 Carl Torched early by Walker but stuck to his task and kept him quiet in second half. 5
3 Haw Among the better Pies in defence. Not big stats but didn’t make mistakes. 7
4 Rich Spoiled ball brilliantly at times and made some great defensive decisions. 6
5 Ess Going well until seriously injured his knee only minutes from full time. 6

1 Haw Played typical unobtrusive game. Had four rebounds from 13 possessions. 4
2 Rich Worked hard as usual. 4
3 Carl Only match-up for Garlett, which was always going to stretch him. 3
4 Port Had to play tall down back and did it well given Powers’ 55 inside 50s. 6
5 Ess Had Jetta/Davey in a great battle. Kept them relatively quiet. 5
6 WB A typically unobtrusive contribution down back. Defensively solid. 5
7 Bris Won the ball down back without being prominent; handy defensive work. 5
8 Geel Mostly unobtrusive, battled hard in the backline. 5
9 Adel Led the way defensively with nine tackles in a solid performance. 6
13 WCE Eight tackles but little more in return game. 4
14 Frem Had Mayne covered all day and defensively sound from start to finish. 6
15 Carl Hardly sighted opening half. Intensity lifted slightly in second but he’s battling. 4
16 Geel Role player who did what team required in 100th game. 5
17 Haw Horror day mostly opposed to Breust who cut him up from start to finish. 3
18 GWS Eighteen touches represented his best return of the season. 5
19 StK Used his speed at times and did some creative things from half back. 6
20 Syd Did a terrific job keeping dangerous Jetta quiet. 7
22 WCE Gave away height to Darling but clearly won the contest. 7

SF WCE Fine job on Darling who threatened at times but he kept him in check. 7
