2 Geel Six effective disposals and looked a little sluggish at times. Didn’t impact the contest enough despite effort. 3
3 GWS A couple of nice touches but only four kicks – not enough from the ex-skipper. 4
4 WB Better than previous weeks but still looks a tad slow when he gets the ball. Effort and commitment not questionable. 5
5 Frem Laid six tackles but only 15 touches. 5
6 VFL A clearance machine with 10 stoppage takeaways to go with his 25 possessions. Great response to axing.

2016 Season

1 Adel Quiet first half (eight disposals) then lifted intensity to play a small part in the victory. 5
2 Bris Another wholehearted effort from the skipper. 6
3 Melb Quiet day with just 13 touches, but laid 11 tackles to help slow Dees down. 5
4 Frem Again not big midfield possessions, but tackled his heart out. 5
5 GCS Dominated around the clearances. 7
6 WB Just did the job required and his contribution shouldn’t be under-estimated. 6
7 StK Toiled honestly in midfield. 6
8 Ess Burrowed in for 11 contested possessions, six inside-50s and three clearances. 7

11 Rich May not be as flashy or eye-catching as others but he a terrific force around field. 8

2 Bris Understated, consistent midfielder who kept ticking over the disposal count. 7
3 Port Brave worker in midfield without Ziebell, Dal Santo and Wells. 7
4 Geel Four clearances and five tackles. Strong around ball and kept pressure on. 6
5 Haw Whacked by Hodge, then concussed by a high tackle and subbed out. 4
6 Rich First kick came late in third term. One inside-50 and four clearances. 5
7 Ess Tackled hard all night and provided a presence around the footy. 7

10 WCE Windy/scrubby game suited his style and made six clearances. 7
11 Syd Inability to hit targets and a lack of pace were glaring. Struggled for impact. 3

10 Geel Looked rusty and struggled big time for most of night. Will get better. 3
11 WCE Another big step in his return with four goals. 8
12 Rich Best game of the year. Laid seven tackles and gathered nine clearances. 7
13 Adel In his fifth game back since his Achilles injury, won nine clearances. 7
14 Melb Started slowly but worked into game and second half solid. Injured knee late. 6
15 Bris Set up several goals and had almost a third of his touches in first term. 6
16 Haw Low-key effort in middle early but prominent in third term and finished on. 6
17 StK Strong and industrious midfield game. 6
18 Carl Worked hard all night and got better returns than others around him. 6

1 Coll Had 19 touches in first half and kept up momentum til the very end. 8
2 Geel Didn’t stop trying in another quality skipper performance. Did it all. 8
3 Syd Terrific first half but had to battle ankle injury later. Still kept ticking. 7
4 Bris Tremendous smother prevented goal in second quarter. 5
5 Haw Kept pumping away all day as possession tally built. 7
6 Port Good leader and was a constant driving force. 8
7 WB Tightly marked by Lower early but lifted in second term; quiet third. 6
8 WCE Surprisingly came up after previous week’s ankle injury. Strong game. 7
9 Adel Battled hard for 12 cont poss, seven clearances and nine tackles. 8
10 StK Solid without being dominant in first half, but better later on. 7
11 GCS Made 12 tackles but had only 10 disposals. Needed more from the skipper. 4

1 Ess Won contested possessions in tight and consistent over all four quarters. 7
2 GWS GWS was obsessed with targeting him physically, but he prevailed anyway. 7
3 Geel Huge. Had eight clearances and seven inside 50s to go with 30 disposals. 8
4 Syd Won plenty of the ball, but showed only flashes of his usual brilliance. 6
5 GCS Battered but led superbly with 31 possessions, including 10 clearances. 8
6 WCE Tough around the clinches with clearances and tackling. 7
7 WB Seemed to lack spark and only had one clearance. Down day for skipper. 5
8 Port Super performance in midfield with 10 clearances, 10 inside-50s and a goal. 8
9 Bris Kept pumping away in midfield, but second half was less prominent. 6
10 Haw Lowered his colours to Sewell again who has a good record on him. 4

22 Frem Won possessions around ground but need to be defensive at times. 6
