2016 Digest:   Didn’t feature at AFL level after setbacks in his recovery from a knee reconstruction but made it back to the VFL for five games. His role as a run-with player has been taken over by Greenwood.

2016 NAB Cup:   Donned a cap for the Magpies’ intra-club but was a handy contributor against Geelong and the Bulldogs.

2016 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1 Syd Spent most of his night forward. A handful of tackles but often seemed a metre off the pace. 3
2 Rich Couldn’t get into the game at all and will be feeling uneasy about place in the side for this week. 2
3 VFL Hard worker with nine tackles to keep the ball in. Also booted two handy goals.
4   Senior emergency.  
5 VFL Tried hard but had little support through midfield.
6 VFL Lead from the front in tight win over the Blues. 25 possessions.
7 VFL Struggled to exert any influence on the night.
8 VFL Missed a few targets but was a hard worker in close in midfield battle.
9 VFL Important factor in midfield with ability to get hands dirty. 26 touches, six tackles.
10 VFL Bye.
11 VFL In everything in first half then sat out second half as senior emergency.
12 VFL Battled away in midfield to help his team gain the upper hand. Fair.
13 VFL Bye.
14 VFL Led from the front superbly with 26 touches and 10 tackles in win.
15 VFL Among Pies’ best in first half before sitting out second half.
16 GWS Carried out role to perfection on H.Shaw and snapped brilliant goal. 6
17 Adel Three inside-50s but little else. 3

19 VFL Strong contributor again in midfield with 29 possessions in win.
20 VFL Chimed in with three goals and had 21 possessions. Going well.
21 VFL Excellent again in midfield. 21 possessions and 13 tackles.
22 VFL Played his part without being at his best. Will retire at season’s end.
23 VFL Superb in midfield after announcing retirement with 35 touches and two goals.

2014 Season

1 Frem Tagged all last year and did it well so why was he playing at half forward? A few good moments. 4
2 Syd Given the task of shutting down Jack, he did just that. 8
3 Geel Frustrated the life out of Johnson and took the points against the star Cat. 6
4 Rich Rode Cotchin like a backpack from opening bounce to play a big role. 8
5 NM Tagged Dal Santo first half and kept him under wraps while side broke clear. 5
6 Ess Shadowed Watson and did the job in fine fashion midfield or back. 8
7 Carl Had job on Murphy. OK after Blues skipper got clear early. 5
9 Adel Shadowed Dangerfield for three terms then released late. Struggled. 4
10 WCE Mostly tagged Shuey and kept the clamps on. Wasted the footy a bit. 6
11 StK Tagged Steven and didn’t let him have a big say. 6
12 Melb Straight to Tyson and did a number on him in a fine effort. Influential himself. 7
13 WB Tagged Griffen. The Dog clearly won the battle. 4
14 Haw Looked to have hands full with Hill early but battled on well in second half. 7
15 Carl Tagged Murphy superbly in a key win for the team. 8
16 GCS Even tussle with Ablett before he was injured. 5
17 Ess Heppell gave him trouble at opening and he tightened up. 5
18 Adel Tagged Sloane and did a reasonable job but didn’t blanket him. 5
19 Port Tagged Boak for much of the day and able to reduce his impact. 6
20 WCE Tagged Shuey for the most part; needs help to be effective and rarely got it. 3
21 Bris Shadowed Hanley first half and Rockliff in second. Couldn’t stop either. 4
22 GWS Injured knee and will miss all of 2015. Terribly sad. 1

2013 Season

1 NM Kicked match-saving goal after strong mark. 4
2 Carl Barely sighted until coming alive in the final term. 4
3   Senior emergency.  
4 Rich Had a stopping job through midfield on Martin at times and did that well. 6
5 Ess Handy at half back and used the ball well. 5
6 StK Shadowed Dal Santo and did a magnificent job quelling him. Key win for team. 8
7 Frem Torched by Walters then belatedly went to Mundy and was OK. 4
8 Geel Tagged Selwood and apart from third term did a superb job. 7
9 Syd Again showed effectiveness as a tagger by thwarting Kennedy. 7
10 Bris Took Hanley completely out of game and had an impact himself. 7
11 Melb Played across half forward and relished opportunity. Grabbed 10 marks. 6
12 WB Important job on Griffen, but simply couldn’t stop him. 4
14 Port Ran with Wingard and had his colours lowered. 4
15 Carl Played defensive role on Tuohy at times. Nipped in for a goal. 6
16 Adel On Smith for early part of the game. Handy contribution. 7
17 GCS Used in defensive forward role on McKenzie, who took the honours. 3
18 GWS Again ran around without a genuine showdown role. OK but needs a task. 5
19 Ess Had task on Heppell and held him in parts. 4
20 Syd Helped quell the Swans' engine room and find some football himself. 6
21 Haw Ran with Mitchell and kept him to moderate numbers but provided no attack himself. 4
22 WCE Shadowed Gaff and intimidated him physically. Did the job. 7
23 NM Shadowed Wells but beaten by the dangerous Roo. Little impact himself. 3
EF Port Did a solid job on Boak to claim the points but the Port skipper kicked a crucial goal. 7
