2017 Digest:   Pre-season form has footy world drooling. Will play mostly at half forward with spurts through midfield. Up-and-coming star.

2017 Season

1	StK	Quality display around ground and in attack. His strength and positive football was a major factor.	7
2	Carl	Not as prominent as his JLT showing against the Blues, but six inside 50s, nine marks and a goal a handy contribution.	6
3	Geel	Each time he went near the pill Cat fans had a tightening of their sphincters. Class player who will only get better.	8
4	Frem	Threatened to break the game open – kicked a superb final term goal, and took some strong grabs. Dees need to use his better.	7
5	Rich	Hobbled by leg issue early on and played more in attack than Dees hoped. Took some great contested marks, but hampered.	6
6	Ess	Played deep forward with Hurley his man. Ended up with four goals and made Essendon pay for turnovers.	8
7	Haw	One kick in opening half then improved after main break. Played small role but well below what fans hope he can produce.	3
8	Adel	Won seven clearances and had a game high four score assists. Massive second half when thrown into middle.	8
9	NM	Double-page spreads in daily newspaper rarely end well on game day. Didn’t impact the game to any great degree.	4
10	GCS	Fumbly and dropped marks he’d typically snaffle. Not his best.	4
11		Bye.
12	Coll	Some important touches at half forward and kept Dees in game at times. In the end was the man the Pies couldn’t stop.	8
13	WB	Had a moment to forget early in a marking contest, but then settled and was a bull at stages around the ball.	6
14	WCE	Had 20 disposals and kicked one goal. Did his job.	6
15	Syd	Burst from stoppage devastating early on, then in and out. Two goals were a real treat however.	6
16	Carl	Quiet first half but then got going after main break to be a factor for the team when they needed him.	7
17	Adel	Went through midfield and was clean and dynamic in patches. Just needed to get it more.	6
18	Port	A bit fumbly at stages, but then had a few dynamic involvements that were key. Late goal finished Port off.	6
19	NM	Caught a few times, but then had trademark bursts. Had to impose himself in final term, but didn’t.	4
20	GWS	Handy early contests, then disappeared as Giants surged. Disappointing outing again.	4
21	StK	Had little impact at half forward until some key efforts in the final term that were vital.	4
22	Bris	Thrown into midfield opposed to Beams at times in second half and gave the Dees a lift. Final term goal a ripper.	7
23	Coll	Kicked Melbourne’s first and looked dangerous, but then drifted out. Had big say in dragging Dees back.	6

2016 Season

1		Played in Casey intra-club.
2		Played in VFL trial against Box Hill.
3	VFL	Looked a cut above the VFL from the first minute. 31 possessions and 2.3. A thoroughbred.	–
4	VFL	Very good again and must be nearing a debut. Might be given one more week.	–
5	VFL	Wasn’t as dominant as the past few weeks but did enough to again press debut claims.	–
6	StK	Long awaited debut and 16 touch display was a landmark.	5
7	GCS	Showed Demons fans he was worth the wait with an impressive display.	7
8	WB	Brilliant goal in first term and showed his class at times. Real positive for the Dees.	7
9	Bris	Dynamic at times. Robbed of a goal by a goal reviewer who sees things that aren’t there.	6
10	Port	In and out of the game in midfield and attack. Worked hard but for little result.	4
11	Haw	Early goal and worked hard playing mostly across half forward.	5
12	Coll	Lot to like about what he does when gets near the football. Classy all day.	6
13	Syd	Super first goal in slop and work-rate very good in front half. Rewarded with another major.	6
15	Adel	Other than a few bursts and a good tackle, a quiet day at half forward.	4
16	Frem	Used at times off back of square and caught eye with power but had a few sloppy kicks.	5
17	StK	Looked the only forward capable of doing anything for long periods, but let down by kicking at times.	5
18	WCE	A bull in congestion. Loved the conditions and had 19 touches.	7
19	GCS	Power in contest important at times and kicked a handy goal in final term. Calf/shin sore?	6
20	Haw	When he got involved generally good things happened but just the five kicks.	4
21	Port	Good contest with Clurey, and managed five inside-50s.	5
22	Carl	Burst in and out then missed multiple chances in final term. Needs to clean up finishing.	4
23	Geel	Kid struggled but it’s all part of the learning curve. Got caught a lot.	3
