Daniel NICHOLSON

2014 Digest:   Nippy small defender/midfielder who has shown brief glimpses of talent over the past few seasons. Biggest asset is his pace, but his kicking is haphazard, especially under pressure and he can get caught ball-watching. Will need to improve vastly to remain ahead of the club’s new draftees.

2014 NAB Cup:   Given every opportunity to cement a place for Round 1 but hasn’t grasped it. Kicking is still a worry.

1	Port	Looked out of his depth at this level and it permeated through the team.	1
2	Ess	Found at this level again. Tries hard but just not up to AFL standard.	2
3	VFL	Improved effort after a horror opening fortnight.	–
4	VFL	Rebounded well from defence, but kicking is still haphazard.	–

6	Carl	Still has a penchant for panic when running the ball from back half. Struggled.	4
7	GCS	Burned the ball by foot and gave too much leg-rope in defence. Poor day.	3
8	Rich	Kicked a goal and at least tried to take game on. Needs to win more footy.	4
9	Frem	For a defender, he can’t defend. Gave some run when released into middle in 2nd half.	3

11	VFL	Gave some run and was better defensively.	–

13	StK	Sub came on for Dawes. Not a major input.	2

2012 Season

3	VFL	Ran hard all day against the tide. One of the best.	–
5	VFL	Worked hard and had a few line breaking runs.	–
6	VFL	Played his role well and provided a bit going forward.	–
7	VFL	Had 14 possessions but kicked 0.4.	–
9	Carl	Good in quelling Garlett and won some footy. Needs to work on his finishing.	6
10	Ess	Honest little worker who put in all night. Matched on Colyer.	6
11	Coll	Went onto Sinclair after early goals. Tried hard to create off half back.	5
13	GWS	Ran hard to create for teammates off half-back and is developing nicely.	7
14	Bris	Had it 20 times but was undisciplined giving away four frees.	5
15	Rich	Among better players. Disposal needs works but plenty to work with.	6
16	Frem	Has task on Ballantyne at times in a great battle. Has to play within limitations.	5
17	Port	Good first half and OK in second but efficiency was down.	6
18	NM	Copped a heavy knock from Lindsay Thomas but battled on.	4
22	Adel	Had 13 touches to half time but kept in check after that.	5
23	Frem	Pretty good on Ballantyne but the Docker still kicked three goals.	5
