2017 NAB Cup:  

2017 Season

1 Geel Plugged away in typical fashion through the middle of the ground. Doesn't play bad games even in defeat. 7
2 Port Well held by both Brad Ebert and Ollie Wines. 3
3 WB Played forward and then moved into the midfield. Had 29 touches and kicked two goals. 8
4 Melb Played forward for periods and rewarded with three goals then went into middle in final term and had an impact. Great game. 8
5 NM Brilliant in the final term. To have 12 touches and three clearances helped the team to win. 8
6 WCE Only eight touches in the first half when Freo needed him most. 4
7 Ess Hurt his leg but went forward and kicked a goal. 6
8 Rich Superb day highlighted by winning goal after the final siren; 18 disposals and workrate huge when used up forward. 7
9 Carl Continued his good form and had 28 possessions plus nine clearances. 7
10 Adel Four possessions till three quarter time including a missed set shot dead in front, no wonder Ross Lyon pulled him aside at ¾ time. 2
11 Coll Spent a lot of time forward. Had 17 disposals and one goal. 5
12 Bris Hesitant on a number of occasions to move the ball on which was a reflection of Dockers’ lack of movement. 6

14 Geel Veteran took a backseat while youngster’s stepped up but still played a role. Six tackles but didn’t have an inside-50. 5
15 StK Had plenty of the ball and tackled well too. 7

17 WCE A better player in the midfield than forward. Collected 24 possessions. 6
18 Haw Solid in the midfield. Had 21 disposals without dominating. 6
19 GWS Didn’t find a lot of it today, but his savvy footy brain was on display when he did get it. 6
20 GCS Spent a lot of time forward. Kicked one goal and had 18 touches. 5
21 Syd Injured knee in first quarter and was hampered for rest of the game. Still did some nice things up forward. 4
22 Rich Had a crack but didn’t have enough teammates to help. Won 27 possessions. 7
23 Ess Work at the stoppages at times was sensational. Seven clearances. 7

2016 Season

1 WB Unable to quell Bulldogs’ midfield dominance in first game as skipper. At least ran the game out. 5
2 GCS Copped a whack to the face but continued to put his head over the ball. 7

6 Adel Returned to the side from injury, was ok, will be better for the run. 6
7 GWS His seven clearances came the team another dimension. 6
8 Haw Started as half-back playmaker and good early, but kicking was off. 6
9 Rich Worked hard and won eight clearances. 7

11 Ess Controlled play with his kicking. The forwards would have loved his work. 8
12 Bris Just six kicks, but plenty of in-and-under stuff. 5
13 Port Really strong around the ball and led the team well. 7
14 Coll Unsighted until half time and only partly recovered after that. 3
16 Melb Came third up early times to negate Gawn dominance. Concussed and sat out most of second half. 4
17 Geel Four clearances and a goal in the final term. Used ball well when he got it. 7
18 GCS Rotated between midfield and half back and was handy. 6
19 Syd Picked up 44 touches and kicked a goal. Had a crack. 8
20 WCE Strong over the ball. Won lots of contested footy. 7
21 Adel Worked hard in the midfield. Won five clearances. 6
22 GWS Down on usual output. Found the GWS midfield far too slick. 3

2015 Season

1 Port Had a last term to remember with 13 touches and five clearances. 7
2 Geel Ran around and did as he liked. Eight clearances, 16 contested possessions. 8
3 WCE Wasn’t his most prolific game but did what was required. 6
4 Syd Good but not great. Had clearances but not damaging around ground. 6
5 Melb Everywhere around the ball and set up the win with a massive first half. 8
6 Ess Another big game with 28 touches. Pushed really deep into defence. 7
7 WB Sported a bandage head after knock and battled on without starring. 5
8 NM Disregarded 20 stitches in his head and kicked two goals from 27 touches 8
9 Adel Stepped up in the last term with seven disposals including five clearances. 7
10 Rich Battled to get hands on ball in early stages. A bit better in second half. 5
11 GCS Big four-quarter effort. Worked to all parts of the field. 8
13 Coll Grabbed 12 clearances and while efficiency down he was a factor. 7
14 Bris Probably Freo’s best in midfield. Eight tackles to go with six clearances. 8
15 Haw Honest trier in middle of park but overwhelmed by Hawk depth. 6
16 Carl Dominant first half set up the win. Finished with 30 disposals and one goal. 8
17 Rich Driving force in midfield and deserved to kick the match-winner. 8
18 GWS Won 11 clearances. Stepped up in Fyfe’s absence. 7
19 StK An ever present force in midfield and crucial in big start. 8
20 WCE Played well for four quarters. Won 10 clearances and kicked a goal. 7
21 NM On Cunnington. One of few good Freo mids in second term. 7
22 Melb Dominant, clean and clever. Showed his class. 8

QF Syd Quiet third term the only downer on another productive afternoon. 7
PF Haw Clearly Freo’s best in first half but not as effective after that. 7

2014 Season

1 Coll Had to hack his kicks out in pressured start but then dictated terms in middle. 8
2 GCS Took full advantage of Sandilands’ dominance – 19 cont poss and six inside-50. 7
3 Haw Very quiet in second and third quarters. 4
4 Ess Heavy head knock in the second term saw him subbed out. 3
5 Syd Ranked just below Fyfe among the Dockers' best. 7
6 NM Toiled hard in the midfield all night. Kicked a goal and never gave in. 7
7 WCE Gave them some flair bursting through the middle and finding long options. 7
8 Port Typically damaging with eight clearances among his 31 disposals. 8
9 Geel Huge. Six clearances, 15 contested possessions, 13 handball receives. 8
11 WB Quelled and restricted to only 17 touches. 4
12 Adel Constant drive from the middle and never relented. 7
13 Rich Huge with 14 contested possessions, five inside-50s, five clearances, a goal. 8
14 Bris Won plenty of the ball and used long kicking well. 7
15 WCE Not as prominent as Fyfe and Hill but provided a presence on the inside. 6
16 Melb Went head to head with Tyson and shared the spoils in midfield. 6

SF Port Kept on chugging on in midfield but wasn’t as influential as normal. 6

2013 Season

1 WCE Strong effort from start to finish. Instrumental when required and consistent all night. 5
2 WB Despite Lower tag found time to gather four clearances and three score assists. 7
3 Ess Ran hard but effectiveness down. Did have nine clearances and 13 cont poss. 7
4 Haw Worked into the gam after a slow start to be among the Dockers best. 7
5 Rich Jackson had the tagging role on him and he wasn’t as influential as usual. 5
6 GCS Dockers’ best midfielder on the night and got seven clearances. 7
7 Coll Not massive numbers but worked hard in the middle to get the ball going forward. 6
8 Syd A physical presence, also the catalyst for many of Freo's forays forward. 7
9 Melb Massive first half with 23 touches. Continued on to be the Dockers best. 9
10 Adel Keeps winning the footy around the stoppages, had six clearances. 7
12 Bris Excellent game and kicked two goals that snuffed out Lions. 8

15 StK His side’s best midfielder and at the forefront of winning surge. 7
16 WCE Prolific ball-winner all through. 7
17 Rich Consistent in midfield then moved forward after heavy bump. Influential second half. 6

19 Carl Imposed himself on contest when his team needed it. Four clearances, five tackles. 6
20 GWS Seven clearances, 10 cont poss, four inside-50s but one of few who didn’t kick a goal. 7
21 Melb Knocked up winning the ball, allowed to roam free most of the day. Made Dees pay. 8
22 Port Had the better of his battle with Ebert. 7

QF Geel Seven clearances, eight tackles and three inside-50s to be a factor around the ball. 7
PF Syd Huge opening term with 13 touches and was a constant threat in the middle of the ground. 8
GF Haw Freo’s best with seven clearances, eight tackles and team-high 24 pressure acts. 8

2012 Season

3 Bris Should be pleased with his return. Won four clearances and kicked a goal. 5
4 StK Working his way back to his best. 6
5 Carl Slow start then was in the thick of it. 6
6 GCS Ran hard throughout and accumulated 25 possessions. 7
7 Port Played more across half-forward. Building back to what we know. 5
8 Haw Sent to reinforce the backline in third term. Still not back to his best. 5
9 WCE Limited impact from his 16 disposals. 5
10 Adel Minimal impact from his 18 touches. Only two clearances. 5
11 Rich Even effort – three clearances, three inside-50s and 10 contested possessions. 7
13 Ess Struggled to assert his authority on the game. 5
14 Coll A nice goal but rarely allowed space to use his kicking skills; only seven kicks. 5
15 WB Played off half-back to get some freedom. Still not a big impact though. 5

17 GWS Subbed out in the third term. Had been okay before that. 5
