1 Rich One goal from one kick, which just isn’t enough for a veteran small forward. 1
2 Melb Kicked a goal and got a bit of the ball, but lacking the impact he showed at stages last season. 4
3   Handy outing with 21 possessions and a goal in loss to Port Melbourne. Might need another week.  
4 PM Worked hard in the front half to keep the ball in. Provided leadership.
5 VFL In and out of the game with 13 touches and a couple of score assists. Just fair.
6 VFL Handy performance from the veteran. 12 of 15 disposals were kicks, also added two goals.
7 VFL In and out of the game with 14 possessions. Steady without starring.
8 VFL Had 22 touches and laid five tackles. His voice was important at times too.
9 VFL Had 17 touches and kicked two goals. Also applied good pressure in attack.

12 VFL Up and down day in a few different roles. Ended with 13 possessions and a goal.
13 VFL Just the 15 touches on a wing, but tried hard. Chase-down tackle a highlight.
14 VFL Just the 11 touches and wasn’t able to get into the game.
15 VFL Absolute howler. Had just five touches.
16 VFL Moved to half back and was okay without being great. Then went forward.
17 VFL Had his moments, but 20 disposals didn’t equate to much impact. Hard to see him cracking the senior side again.
18 VFL Played a variety of roles and his effort was good. 15 disposals. Blues happy with his leadership.
19 VFL Played a number of different roles. Defended well in the back half and was even able to hit the scoreboard at an important time.
20 Ess Played down back on Bomber small forwards. Okay without setting world on fire; 14 disposals. 4
21 WCE Had his hands full with Cripps. The Eagle kicked three early goals. 4
22   Senior emergency.  
23 Syd Performed admirably in his last his last game. Displayed some dash and ran hard. Didn’t always use it well. 5

2016 Season

4 VFL First game back from injury and was a good contributor.
5 VFL Run and experience was a factor. Rated the Blues’ best player.
6 Ess Snap goal in fourth tern proved critical. Three inside-50s and two tackles. 4
7 Coll Good energy when he came on and gut-running in final term worried Pies. 5
8 Port Burst in and out a few times but also made a few errors by foot. 4
9 NM Nothing he does looks overly pretty but is a consistent trier. 4
10 Geel Three goals and caused havoc up forward with his pace. Key to win. 7
11 Bris Three goals in another livewire performance. His speed and spread was pivotal. 7
12 StK Showed a few breakaway bursts of speed, but well below recent form. 4
14   Groin.

16 Adel Kicked side’s entire first-term score (3.0). Four for the match. Quiet after half time. 7
17 WCE Won a bit of the ball but didn’t hit the scoreboard. Four inside-50s. 5
18 Syd In and out of the game up forward. Generally made the right decisions when he got it. 4
19 Haw Quiet day. Struggled to make an impact both offensively and defensively. 4
20 StK Got behind the defence a few times but unable to make the Saints pay. 4
21 Bris Had an unsuccessful crack minding Zorko. Late goal put Blues within grasp of victory. 5
22 Melb Allowed a bit too much room early but didn’t hit the scoreboard as he can do. 5
23 Ess Chipped in with two goals but not much else. Just one tackle. 4

2015 Season

3 Ess Defensive pressure good and kicked a goal. Faded but not the worst. 5
4 StK Did a good job to close down Savage’s run. 6

6 Bris Shadowed Rich and won that battle until released late in game. 6

8 Geel Not as bad as some. Nullified Motlop so did his job. Two tackles. 6
9 Syd Thrown task on Jetta but lost him too often. Kept battling. 4
10 Adel Two goals from seven kicks playing up forward. Nipped in at times. 4
12 Port Two goals a good return at half forward. 5
13 GCS Two goals and worked hard at half forward. Steady performance. 6
14 WB Had an impact in front half with workrate and pressure. Inaccuracy (2.4) a bit costly. 6
15 Rich Struggled to impact the game and ended with an injured arm. 2

2014 Season

1   Didn’t play for Northern Blues.

3 VFL Got better as the game wore on with his run.
4 VFL Battled hard all afternoon. Gave 100%.
5 VFL Got better as the game wore on to have a big impact.
6 VFL Tried hard all day.
7 VFL Worked hard around the ball but wasn’t overly influential.
8 StK One dashing run set up a goal in first half and did a decent job on Montagna. 6
10 Adel Shadowed Dangerfield and kept him from being overly dangerous. 5

12 Geel Huge first term (seven disposals) but touched it four times thereafter. 3
13 Haw Had task on Birchall who got away too many times when game on the line. 3
14 GWS A late inclusion for Murphy, he provided a little run in the final term. 3
15 Coll Seemed to be tagging himself and did it brilliantly. No kicks. Subbed off. 1
16 VFL OK with 16 possessions but didn’t do enough for recall.
17 VFL Tagged Anthony at times and was soundly beaten.
18 VFL In and out of the game without having a big impact.
19 VFL Had 26 touches and was one of the Blues’ better performers.
20 VFL Gave dash at times but was all too infrequent.
21 Geel Sub. Late inclusion for McLean. Made some mistakes from limited touches. 1

1 Rich Sent to Deledio in second term. Restricted him slightly but own game suffered. 6
2 Coll Had a go as he always does and left nothing out there. 5
3 Geel Gritty performance highlighted by a goal and good efficiency. 5
4 WCE Used defensively across half forward on Hurn and was superb. 8
5 Adel Solid throughout keeping Dangerfield in check. A favourite of MM’s. 6
6 Melb Handy again with a couple of goals and some timely pressure. 6
7 StK Played with real spirit but lack of kicking polish hurts him. 6
8 Port Consistently broke the lines with his blistering speed. Damaging. 7
9 Bris Started on bench and made a solid contribution. 6
10 GWS His blistering pace has become a lethal weapon for the Blues –two goals. 6
11 Ess Flashed in a few times but not a big game. 4
12 Haw Tried to shadow Birchall but was unsuccessful. Limited impact offensively. 3
14 Syd Does nothing flashy but does what is required. Hard worker. 5
15 Coll Sub. On first term and went to Dwyer then Swan. Struggled big time. 2
16 StK Had tagging role on Steven with partial success. 5

1 Rich Used speed to advantage and was effective. 6
2 Bris Bobbed up a few times in attack, but not a big night. 3
3 Coll Meant to be negating forward on Shaw, hurt knee then came back on. 5
5 Frem Task on Hill in a great battle. Did a reasonable job but little himself. 5
6 GWS Few touches and influence was negligible. 2
7 StK Tagged Dal Santo well but did little himself going other way. 6
8 Adel He bustled away all day in a defensive role but didn’t have much impact. 4
9 Melb Had a variety of negating roles and was then subbed out for final term. 3
10 Port His pace was electrifying at times but didn’t get to enough contests. 5
11 Geel Ran hard and used ball well – six inside 50s and a goal a handy contribution. 7
12 WCE Went to Gaff in second half and actually did a good job nullifying him. 6
14 Haw Brilliant early goal then not a big effect on game. 3
15 Coll Defensive forward on Shaw; did the job reasonably well. 5
16 NM Won a lot of the ball in the first half. Among the better Blues. 6
17 WB Tried hard, but several kicks landed in the arms of gleeful opponents. 4
18 Rich Lifted in second term and got on top of Newman. 5
19 Syd Lined up on wing against McVeigh. Didn’t break clear until late. 4
