2017 Digest:   Former Magpie is suspended for the season opener after a sling tackle in JLT series. Not an ideal start, but he’ll be handy.

1   Suspended.  
2 Ess Responsible for Hooker who kicked two goals. More effective than raw stats suggest. 5
3 StK Copped a head knock early, but did a good job on McCartin when the Saint was on the field. 6
4 NEAFL Had 11 touches and competed hard but didn’t do enough to warrant a recall.
5 NEAFL 10 touches in defence and competed solidly with the ball in the air and on the deck.
6 NEAFL Bye.
7 NEAFL Struggled down back. Has to lift to make a return to the senior lineup.
8 NEAFL Couldn’t get his hands on the ball, but spoiled well at times.
9   Concussion.

12 NEAFL Back from a stint on the sidelines and battled away down back.
13 NEAFL Didn’t have much to do, but did a steady job.
14 NEAFL Didn’t have much to do down back, but went okay.
15 NEAFL Played his part in the back half once again. In a good patch of form.
16 NEAFL Threw his weight around early. Then was off the ground at stages.
17 NEAFL Bye.
18 NEAFL Nothing special from the former Magpie. Hard to see him cracking back into the senior side. Positive was 100% kicking efficiency.
19 NEAFL One good moment with strong tackle late in the game but aside from that, was a liability with the ball.
20   Didn’t play for Brisbane reserves.

2016 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1 Syd Had the job on Buddy for the most part. Must dread this fixture every year. 4
2 Rich Stood Riewoldt for long periods and going well until final term when looked all at sea. 4
3 VFL Battled away down back and grew in confidence later in game.
4 VFL Given a run around by young Weideman after a promising first half.
5 Ess Gave Daniher very little but was helped by fact ball rarely came in one-on-one. 5
6 WCE Strong in the contests. Had nine spoils and threw himself at the ball. 6
7 Carl Had a rough afternoon on Casboult, who marked nearly everything that came near him. 3
8 Bris Tight in defence, but had little to do for long periods. 6
9 Geel Did well on Hawkins who still found a way to kick four goals. Did his job. 5
10 WB Lined up on Roughead at the start. Defended stoutly, putting himself in the right places. 6
11 Port Shaky down back and made some costly errors. Not his best day. 3
12 Melb Took Hogan for long periods and did a reasonable job given weight of ball against. 5
14 VFL Steady without starring in defence in Magpies’ win over Richmond.
15 VFL OK in back half in close win over Northern Blues.
16 VFL Hardly troubled in back half. Made the right decisions by foot and hand.
17 VFL Key defender touched the pill eight times. Rarely under pressure.
18 VFL Bye.
19 VFL Competed strongly in the back half and used the ball well.
20 VFL Did what was asked of him in defence. 11 possessions.
21 VFL Good defensively in tight win over the Borough.
22 VFL Shocking mohawk haircut but was steady enough in back half.
23 VFL Didn’t get much ball down back and was stretched at times.

2015 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1 Bris Five touches until half time and no more for rest of game. Struggled. 3
2 Adel Broke even with Walker. Kept the powerhouse to just two goals. 6
3 StK Totally on top of McCartin for the whole game. 7
4 Ess Had the better of Daniher in a key win for the team. Improving player. 6
5 Carl Good night in defence and made sure Carlton didn’t get a sniff. 7
6 Geel Inexplicably started on Hawkins who destroyed his confidence. 1
7 Rich The accurate Riewoldt got the better of him in the end as did Deledio. 4
8 GCS Subbed off as a precaution after a knee to the back of the leg. 4
9 NM Beaten by Waite in opening quarter but fought back hard. 5
10 Melb Thrown task on Hogan and clearly won that battle which was pivotal. 7
11 GWS Conceded front spot to McCarthy (four goals) too often. Not his best. 3
13 Frem Had Hannath for most part and did the job on him. 7
14 Haw On Schoenmakers most of the night and did well. 6
15 Port Subbed out early with concussion, returned with little impact. 4
16 WCE On Darling for a while and maintained pressure down back. 6
17 WB Gave Crameri too much space early on which gave the Dog confidence. 4
18 Melb Struggled on Hogan early but much better when moved onto Dawes. 5
19 Carl Casboult gave him troubles in Blues' attack at times. 5
20 Syd Dour negating job in defence. 4
21 Rich On Vickery who took him to the cleaners. Not a day he will want to remember. 2
22 VFL Responded well to AFL axe with steady effort in defence.
23 VFL Did his job down back in rare VFL appearance.

2014 Season

Played for : Collingwood

1 Frem Kid showed a bit. Had an appetite for the contest and fought it out well down back. 5
2 Syd Took a big step forward in his development with his effort on Franklin. 6
3 Geel Did well on Hawkins until final term when the big Cat cut loose. 4
4 Rich Did a reasonable job on Riewoldt but got plenty of support from teammates. 6
5 NM Gave Black a bath. Developing brilliantly in the key post. 7
6 Ess Saw Hardingham off midway through third term and defended brilliantly. 6
7 Carl Did enough on Henderson in first half without winning heaps of touches. 6
9 Adel Took Walker and kept him from getting the ball inside forward 50. 6
10 WCE Had Kennedy’s measure until concussion ended his night early in third term. 5
11 StK Given the big job on Riewoldt and had an educational night. 3
12 Melb Great battle against Dawes. Closing speed a highlight of his effort. 7
13 WB Battled injury during the game. 4
14 Haw Got the key match-up on Roughead who probably just shaded him. 6
15 Carl Fine job on Casboult and showed courage to leave his man and be third-in. 6
16 GCS Could not keep the Suns tall forwards under wraps. 3
17 Ess Lined up on Daniher. Had some trouble with some of his leads. 4
18 Adel Battled Walker and will be frustrated that he kicked three goals. Solid. 6
19 Port Can add the Schulz scalp to his increasing list. Fine performance. 8
20 WCE Hard task on Kennedy given tide was against. Did a good job given score. 6
21 Bris Defensively OK but some of his decision-making and skill was horrid. 3
22 GWS Kept Boyd relatively quiet to do his bit down back. 5
23 Haw Battled Roughead who got hold of him in the second term. Will learn from year. 3

1 NM Late inclusion who got better as the game wore on. 5
2 VFL Impressive again down back.
3 Haw Franklin got hold of him a couple of times and he was later subbed out. 2
4 VFL Battled hard in defence. Got to a lot of contests.
5 VFL Didn’t have a great deal to do down back. Solid enough.
6 VFL Injured knee and looks like needing ACL surgery.
