2017 NAB Cup:  

2017 Season

1	Ess	Used up the ground on a wing for long periods like in JLT series. Didn’t impact the game as he typically does.	4
2	Adel	Didn’t kick a goal and spent parts of the afternoon trying to shore-up a leaky defence.	4
3	GCS	An off night with the boot (0.3). Pushed further up the ground to try and stay involved.	5
4	Geel	Brilliant snap goal early in match and another late but in between not a huge impact. Just 12 effective disposals.	5
5	WCE	First term goal and looked more comfortable playing in attack than on a wing where he’s spent most of the year so far.	7
6	StK	Spent more time forward, but had to work up ground for touches. Nowhere near the play he was in their glory years.	3
7	Melb	Bright start with two goals then hardly sighted after half time. Ended day with 13 disposals.	5
8	Bris	Played in all areas of the ground but didn’t make much of a difference. Best position is unknown.	4
9	Coll	Always looked a threat as a high half-forward, and won it 17 times, but didn’t manage a goal.	4
10	Syd	Worked up the ground to take Rampe out of the back 50 and was handy enough.	6
11	Port	Hard to be too rough given ball never got down to him, and when it did it was so scrappy kicking goals was tough; seven disposals.	2
12	GCS	Hawks’ best forward on the day with five goals. Great return to form in a beaten side. Takes season goal tally to 15.	8
13		Bye.
14	Adel	Took Lever out of the game stretching him wide which left holes in the centre of the Adelaide defence.	6
15	Coll	One goal from 21 disposals. Laid seven tackles but just the one inside-50. Handy without starring.	6
16	GWS	Across half back/wing thought he might have more impact than 17 possessions and five marks.	5
17	Geel	Played up the ground and won a heap of the ball (24 disposals), four inside-50s and one goal. Solid contributor.	8
18	Frem	Outstanding in defence with 35 disposals. Also went forward for one goal.	8
19	Syd	18 disposals in another strong outing against the Swans. Took a key late mark.	7
20	Rich	Good first half but folded up like a Chinese deckchair after half time. Hard to blame him given under siege.	5
21	NM	Phenomenal work rate up and down ground from his half back role, 27 disposals and a goal.	8
22	Carl	Classy ball use from the back half. Mopped up well all night.	7
23	WB	Patrolled half back with aplomb and ball use set teammates up further afield. Could that be his permanent role?	7

2016 Season

1	Geel	Bobbed up down back early when Hawks were under siege then returned to attack with three goals.	6
2	WCE	Took nine marks to go with 1.2 and worked hard up the ground to create space behind.	7
3	WB	Chipped in with two goals and had three score assists.	5
4	StK	Didn’t kick a goal but work up the ground was pivotal. Took 11 marks, many on the lead.	7
5	Adel	Brilliantly kept ball in play to score a goal but otherwise quiet. Good cameo down back	3
6	GWS	Hawks’ only avenue to goal in first half with three majors. Ended with five in a huge effort.	8
7	Rich	Covered plenty of ground from forward base and bagged four goals.	7
8	Frem	Handy game as target in attack. Booted three goals.	5
9	Syd	Long goal brought Hawks into it just before half time. Only winning Hawk forward.	7
10	Bris	Made to work hard by McStay. Took four contested marks and ended with 2.1.	6
11	Melb	Three first half goals but then quieter in second half. Injured foot/ankle in fourth quarter.	6
13	NM	Very quiet game and took ages to get his first kick.	3
14	GCS	One first half goal from 13 kicks in a great battle with May. Contributed without starring.	5
16	Port	Three goals from four attempts and gave off two others.	7
17	Syd	Two goals and eight marks. He didn’t star but certainly was a factor.	6
18	Rich	Worked hard up and down the ground and rewarded with three goals.	7
19	Carl	Constant threat in the front half. Sloppy conversation tarnished a terrific game.	7
20	Melb	Two goals from six marks but was pretty well held. Four behinds.	5
21	NM	One goal from five marks. Might have been hampered by injury but played on.	3
22	WCE	Kicked two goals and made the most of his chances.	5
23	Coll	Beaten by Howe. One goal, four marks and seven kicks.	3
QF	Geel	Lonergan picked him up. Quiet start, but then significant in Hawk surge.	6
SF	WB	Six marks and one goal but for the most part superbly held.	5

2015 Season

1	Geel	Only one goal and probably lowered his colours to Lonergan.	4
2	Ess	Dragged Hawks back into game with three third term goals. One of their best.	7
3	WB	Murphy was giving running role on him but he still covered lots of ground.	5
4	Port	Three goals from five attempts, and two scoring assists.	6
5	NM	If not for some uncharacteristic wayward kicking, could have had a bag. Super night.	7
6	GWS	Presented well up the ground and was lively around goals.	6
7	Melb	Just the one goal, but moved well in front half to create for others.	6
8	Syd	Rampe wore him tight. Kicked one goal and missed three gettable ones.	5
9	GCS	Covered plenty of ground and played his role in attack.	6
10	StK	Marked strongly and kicked three goals to give constant headaches.	7
12	Adel	Dislocated a finger and didn’t trouble the score sheet.	2
13	Ess	Started brilliantly with three goals then radar failed. Four behinds after half time.	6
14	Coll	On Frost and Brown. Could have kicked more than two goals but wayward.	5
15	Frem	Continued to struggle to find the ball despite avalanche of inside 50s.	3
16	Syd	Three goals in opening 20 minutes and ended with four. Handy.	7
17	Carl	Lapped up the service to snag six goals. Took career tally past 200 goals.	9
18	Rich	Three goals and looked only dangerous forward. Seven marks.	7
19	WCE	Off target and didn't have much of the ball.	4
20	Geel	Only one goal but dangerous linking up the ground. Good duel with Kolodjashnij.	6
21	Port	Hard worker in front half and ended with three goals.	7
22	Bris	Got the Hawks’ going with three second-quarter goals and ended with four.	7
23	Carl	Continued upward swing in form with four goals. Hitting top gear at right time.	7
QF	WCE	Kicked first goal but struggled. Badly injured leg in final quarter to top night off.	3

GF	WCE	Back from injury and demonstrated value with four goals in another good GF.	7

2014 Season

1	Bris	Radar uncharacteristically awry early then chipped in with two late goals.	5
2	Ess	Well held by Hurley and managed only one goal.	3
3	Frem	His two goals were back to back. OK without starring.	6
4	GCS	Led beautifully, kicked straight for five goals and created. Also went to defence.	8
5	Geel	Dangerous with three goals and could easily have kicked five.	6
6	Rich	Opened game with an instant goal. Not a big day and treated for tight hammy.	4
7	StK	Experimental placing on the wing at the start then booted four goals.	6
8	Syd	Kept out of game all night. Went goalless for first time this season.	2
10	Port	Five inside-50s and three goals.	7
11	GWS	Kicked four goals from nine kicks, critical input in a tight game.	8
12	WCE	Booted three goals and was the perfect partner for Roughead.	6
13		Calf.
14	Coll	Struggled to find rhythm early but got better as game went on.	6
15	GCS	Worked strongly enough in attack but didn’t get result on scoreboard.	5
16	NM	Thompson went on to him early. Worked very hard well up the field for six goals.	8
17	Adel	Four goals, two assists and two inside-50s.	7
18	Syd	Thrashed by Rampe in first half (5 disp.) Only goal came in third term.	4
19	WB	Kicked three goals but was a concern when he hurt ankle late in the day.	5
20		Knee.
21	Frem	Only one goal from three opportunities. Looked to be favouring a knee.	5
22	Geel	Well held by Lonergan and just the one goal from four marks.	3
23	Coll	Five-goal confidence booster on eve of finals just what player and coach ordered.	8
QF	Geel	Had Lonergan and tried to work him up the ground. Three goals super important.	6

PF	Port	Kickless in first term but worked into it later and contributed two goals.	5
GF	Syd	Early kicking for goal a worry but he got on top of Rampe.	6

2013 Season

1	Geel	Hardly sighted first half and ditto second.	2
2		Ill.
3	Coll	Sub. Ran more after the game then he did during limited game time.	1
4	Frem	OK up forward. Kicked a goal and chased hard defensively.	5
5	NM	Worked and ran hard. Not enough kicks first half. Important late goal and mark	5
6	Adel	Bobbed up for three goals but unsighted in general play.	6
7	Syd	Had three goals by half time and while he faded the damage was done.	6
8	GWS	Started on wing. Three goals on ex-Hawk Gilham and did a fair job.	7
9	GCS	Not very prominent in attack initially but then lifted.	5
10		Calf.
12	Carl	Made most of opportunities to kick three important goals.	6
13	WCE	Relished role alongside stars to kick five key goals. Getting better all the time.	8
14	Bris	Dropped out of it in third quarter but finished strongly when Hawks took over.	4
15	Geel	Quiet first half but fired up with 14 second-half disposals to get side back in it.	6
16	Port	Five goals from six shots and a thorn in the Port side all game.	8
17	WB	Developing into a great mobile forward, although inaccurate in front of goal.	7
18	Ess	Goal after quarter time siren and added another in the third term. Played a part.	6
19	Rich	Well beaten by Astbury and failed to goal. Only four effective disposals.	2
20	StK	Kicked a couple of goals before subbed off with minor quad problem.	4
21	Coll	Worked hard and kicked a couple of goals to do his bit.	5
22	NM	Struggled and remained goalless. Nice handball to Hill for important goal late in third.	4
23	Syd	On Rampe and led up well as a target.	6
QF	Syd	Led well and made good position. As usual stepped up to plate with Buddy out.	6

PF	Geel	Very important in attack with three first half goals and finished with four.	7
GF	Frem	Kicked four goals to be best forward and used ball perfectly in field play.	8

2012 Season

1	Coll	Gave life with a goal assist and kicked one of his own from boundary.	3
2	Geel	Brought on at start of final term.	2
3	Adel	Started on ground for first time for Hawks. Nice goal.	5
4	WCE	Struggled to get involved.	3
7	VFL	Very quiet outing.	–
8	VFL	Kicked seven goals in a one man show up forward.	–
11	Port	Kicked two goals as a forward and presented well.	5
12	Bris	Could have kicked a couple more goals with better accuracy.	4
14	Carl	As third forward was a big danger in first half then subbed off.	5
15	GWS	A quiet game, but in fairness had to play third fiddle up forward.	4
16	WB	Filled role of Franklin to contribute four goals. Had plenty of chances.	7
17	Coll	Set game alight with a brilliant opening term and ended with three goals.	7
18	Ess	Created a good target early. Took a huge mark for one of his three goals.	5
19	Geel	A thorn in Cats side all night with four goals – a great set-shot exponent.	7
20	Port	Just the one goal and was paid close attention from Blee.	4
21	GCS	Clean skills. Impressive again in attack because he provided different style.	6
22	Syd	Couldn’t fine the space with Buddy back in the side.	3
23	WCE	Proved handy foil alongside Franklin with three goals then subbed out.	6
QF	Coll	Kicked 2.3 in a handy contribution despite Reid doing pretty well on him.	6
PF	Adel	Quiet early, but lifted and does everything in a polished way.	5
GF	Syd	Contained by Johnson early but fired in the third. Two goals and late poster.	3
