2017 NAB Cup:

2017 Season

1 Bris Got his hands on the footy, though uncharacteristically sloppy on his disposal. 4
2 GWS One of the few Suns’ players that can hold his head high. Kicked three goals and was dangerous. 7
3 Haw Set the tone early with three first half goals. Great with his defensive pressure also. 8
4 Carl Gets better and better. Found plenty of ball across half forward and through midfield and rarely makes a bad decision. 8
5 Adel Used more in defence than attack but not as influential as previous two weeks. 5
6 NM OK in his 50th game but didn’t hit targets as regularly as normal. 5
7 Geel Bobbed up playing across half forward. Dangerous sort of player who makes things happen when he gets near it. 5
8 Port Got a bit of the ball early on, but not as clean and incisive as usual. Has had better afternoons. 5
9   Bye.
10 Melb Really influential in the first half across half forward, then starved for opportunity. 6
11 WCE Good link through the centre and used the footy efficiently. 6
12 Haw Kicked goal of the day off the left side in the third term. Stats not huge (15) but did enough to keep Hawks at bay. 6
13 Carl Failed to lay a tackle though booted three goals. Caught out a couple of times defensively. 6
14 StK Good game in general and looked to create a menace when coming off half back for a while. 6
15 NM Huge influence in attack, setting up plenty of scores for his team mates and booting two goals. 8
16 Syd 18 possessions, nine marks and five tackles. One of the better Suns. 6
17 Coll Creative and lively across half forward. Booted two goals and involved in two goal assists. 7
18 WB Dangerous forward of centre and showed his class when others were battling in the conditions. 7
19 Rich Floated between forward and midfield, and was creative with ball in hand. 7
20 Frem Had plenty of the ball but couldn’t hurt the Dockers with it. 5
21 Bris Sizzled with three goals in as many minutes in first term. Finished with four and was a genuine forward target. 7
22 Ess Sloppy with the footy. Booted one goal and had a fraction of the impact he is capable of. 5
23 Port Like many of his teammates couldn’t find the footy and when he did burnt it. 3

2016 Season

1 Ess Creative with his limited possessions. Pressure was outstanding. 6
2 Frem The Dockers couldn’t match up on him. Kicked four goals and was a key to victory. 8
3 Carl Came into it in the second half and booted three goals. 7
4 Bris One goal the highlight on a night he was well shadowed by Gardiner. 5
5 NM Got in and under though not dangerous as usual. 5
6 Geel Hardly sighted. One kick forward of centre tells the story of a game in which he was never a factor. 1
7 Melb Quiet first half and things got no better in second half. 1
8 GWS Struggled getting in the game early, but presented well up the ground. 3
9 Adel Used in uncustomary role in defence and was OK. 5
10 WCE Played at both ends. Super overhead and kicked two goals. 7
11 Syd Appears to be settled in defensive half, needs to get the footy in his hands more. 4
12 Rich Seems to be going through the motions. Playing half forward role but offering little. 3
14   Soreness.
15 StK Marshalled the defence and used the footy efficiently. 7
16 Bris Polished and composed in defence, set up plenty of attacking thrusts. 8
17 WB Did most of his best work in the first half. Had just six touches after main break. 5
18 Frem Spent a good portion in the middle and was clean with the footy. 7
19 Melb Got going late in the game but to that point was quiet. Got caught in defence. 4
20 GWS Interesting dual with Johnson. Recovered after a shaky start. 6
21 Ess Used in defence again then went forward late. Indirect with ball in hand. 5
22 Coll Started back on De Goey and was troubled but kicked a classy goal in third term. 5
23 Port Read the play well and made all the right decisions in defence. 7

2015 Season

1 Melb Horrible first three quarters then suddenly came to life in final term. 4
2 StK Showed why he is rated as an exceptional talent but down on defensive aspects. 5
3 Geel How classy is this kid? Three goals and glided around to be damaging. 8
4 GWS Subbed out early after injuring ankle. Kicked first goal. 2
5 Bris Made something happen with every touch of the footy. Clean. 7

19 Bris Complemented the tall forwards. 6
20 Rich Struggling until got knocked out in third term and did not return. 2
21 Ess Added a bit of flair to the contest and booted three goals. 6
22 Port Did some flashy things but drifted in and out of the match. 5
23 Syd Starved of opportunities for most of night and struggled to win the footy. 3

14 Geel Repaid faith shown by club with a competent performance featuring a goal. 5
15 Haw Didn’t get first touch til second term and was brushed aside in wet conditions. 2
16 Coll A couple of his touches oozed class. Going to be a player. 4
17 WB Barely sight apart from kicking a goal. 2
18 Bris Booted a classy goal but that was the extent of his contribution. 3
19 StK Won a fair bit of the ball at half forward on Savage. 5
20 Carl Showed some class in the forward line. Needs to bulk up. 6
21 Port Hampered by a leg injury and wasn’t able to get near it. 2
22 Ess Smoother mover with superb vision and skill – used both to hurt Dons. 6
23 WCE Poise and awareness first class. Four goals one of the game’s highlights. 8
