Jason BLAKE

2013 Digest:   Resilient and hard-nosed defender who has always bounced back when it has seemed his career was on the downturn. He was delisted at the end of 2011 to enable list maneuvering, but battled on and was even called upon to do ruckwork in 2012. Had minor finger surgery in off season.

2013 NAB Cup:   Surgery was a setback over summer but the warrior played all four NAB games. Even rucked.

3	GWS	Toiled away in defence and even had a brief turn in the ruck	5

10	VFL	Played down back on the resting ruckman. Battled hard.	–
11	VFL	Failed to finish the game after injury ended his day.	–

21	Syd	Job on Tippett a big one for a warrior in the twilight of career. Honest.	5

1	Port	In his 200th game he worked hard on Butcher.	5
2	GCS	Had to work strongly down back.	5
3	WB	Applied great pressure in defence and made one memorable tackle.	6
4	Frem	Toiled honestly in backline.	5
5	Melb	Mostly on Sellar. Hurt knee which looked bad but seemed to recover.	5
6	Haw	Battled manfully in absence of injured McEvoy, but lacked support.	6
7	Carl	Matched up on Waite and gave terrific effort under pressure.	8
8	WCE	Thrown into depleted ruck and tried as hard as he could against the odds.	5
9	Syd	Took on the main rucking role and amazingly held his own. Huge heart.	6
10	Rich	Battled gamely in ruck and did the job on J. Riewoldt for a quarter.	6
11	GCS	In the mix for Brownlow votes. 28 hitouts and a goal to go with 21 poss.	8
12	Adel	Outreached by Tippett in first term then copped heavy knock. Subbed off	2
14	NM	On Petrie and had his work cut out before injuring an ankle.	4
