2016 Digest:   Only one senior game for the Hawks, as a sub, in 2015 yet constantly racked up huge possession tallies in the VFL. Was training at Balwyn before getting the Bombers' call.

2016 NAB Cup:   Has been good as a mid prepared to get back and help defence. Late addition but fit.

2016 Season

Played for : Essendon

1 GCS Did some useful things. 4
2   Played in VFL trial against Richmond.  
3 VFL Gathered plenty of the ball playing midfield role. Typical sort of game.
4 VFL Had little trouble winning the ball given lop-sided nature of the contest.
5 VFL Won a mountain of ball and kicked two goals. Among the better players.
6 Carl Did well. Five inside-50s, four clearances and eight contested possessions. 6
7 Syd Looked promising early until he injured his hamstring late in the first term and took no further part. 2

4 VFL Combined with Woodward to controlled the middle of the ground.

6 VFL Quieter day in middle. Only 14 possessions.
7 Melb Sub. Late inclusion for Smith. Handful of touches. 2
8 VFL Rarely plays a down game at this level. 29 touches again.
9 VFL Best afield with 35 possessions and three big goals.
10 VFL 22 possessions in a typical hard-working outing.
11 VFL Bye.
12 VFL Big ball winner in middle of ground. Nine inside 50s too.
13 VFL 29 dispoals, six inside 50s and plenty of grunt work.
14 VFL Battled away as always in midfield to end with 29 possessions.
15 VFL 24 possessions and five inside 50s to play strong hand.
16 VFL Huge outing in midfield with three goals and 33 touches.
17 VFL Not his best game but still gave it his all.
18 VFL Leading ball-winner with 29 touches in strong midfield display.
19 VFL Worked hard in tight in midfield battle. One of Hawks' best.
20 VFL Made some errors and wasn’t give much room to operate.

2014 Season

Played for : Hawthorn

1 Bris Avoided the sub vest and had no problem finding the ball around the contests. 6
2 Ess Sub. On early third term to replace Hodge. Kicked a key goal in final term. 2
3 Frem Had it 30 times and did a lot of grunt work around the footy. 7
4 GCS As usual did everything right when came on as sub. 3
5 Geel Won plenty of ball but only two inside-50s and one clearance. 5
6 Rich Sub came on for Stratton at final change. 1
7 VFL Strong contributor in midfield with 34 disposals.
8 Syd Two goals from four kicks in first half then missed two key shots in last term. 5
10 Port Started as the sub and useful when introduced. 5
11 GWS Solid first half but ball use waned in second and influence faded. 5
12 VFL Hawks’ best with 25 possessions, nine tackles in the middle.
13 VFL Bored in late to help sway momentum the Hawks’ way.
14 VFL Won a lot of the ball in close to feed to Hawk runners.
15 VFL Bye.
16 VFL Competed hard but missed kick last cost Hawks’ chance at a win.
17 Adel Two goals from three attempts and a thorn in the Crows’ side. 7
18 Syd Did some great tam things early in game. Faded a tad but made a mark. 6
19 WB Sub came on and kicked instant goal. 2
20 Melb Quiet afternoon in an easy win. Spot in team isn’t assured. 4
21 Frem Stated as the sub and decent when given a chance late. Kicked a goal. 4
22 Geel Sub. Replaced Suckling in third term and quickly set about winning plenty of ball. 4
23 Coll Always in space and efficiency improved as the game wore on. Solid. 7
QF Geel Sub. On in final term for Sewell and quickly picked up tempo. 2
PF Port Came on and did a bit at times. 2

2013 Season

Played for : Hawthorn

1   Rested.  
2 VFL 31 possession at half forward then midfield. Impressive.
3 VFL Chugged away in midfield. Lacked his usual impact however.
4 VFL Tagged by Eardley and worked hard to break the shackles.
5 VFL Won his fair share of ball and linked well through the middle.
6 Adel Subbed into the game late in the third term for the ineffective Osborne. 4
7 Syd Sub. On late when result was already decided and made the most of his time. 2
8 GWS Big opening term and looked like he wanted to stake a claim. Handy game. 5
9 GCS Lots of the ball without cutting holes in opposition 6
10 Melb Helped himself to 11 contested poss, a goal and four inside-50s to be a factor. 7
12 Carl Sub. On third term and immediately set up two decisive third-term goals. 3
13 WCE Was to be sub but started after Puopolo pulled out. Good early then faded. 4
14 Bris Sub was keen to make an impact and had 17 touches after half time. 5
15 Geel Handy game highlighted by a goal in final term. Certainly not the worst. 6
16 Port Came on as the sub twice, first for Cheney and then Stratton. 5
17 WB Started as sub for fifth time this year, injected at start of Q4 – busy, two nice goals. 5
18 Ess Got under guard for 20 disp but kicking suspect. Subbed out after knock 6
19 VFL Worked hard all day to finish with 25 possessions and a goal.
20 StK Given more game time and opportunity to show his wares. 6
21 VFL Dominated in midfield with 28 disposals, nine marks, two goals.
22 VFL Impressive performer with 28 touches and six clearances.
23 VFL A standout in midfield. Used the ball well and was hard in close.
SF VFL Worked hard in defence and attack from the midfield. Good contributor.
PF VFL Won the best afield medal for his 26 disp, two goal afternoon.

2012 Season

1 VFL Worked hard in the midfield. Strong showing.
2 VFL Slow start but was a strong contributor by the final siren.
3 VFL Continued his strong form in the midfield.
4 VFL One of the Cats best.
5 VFL Great game in the midfield. In everything.
6 VFL Solid game but lacked a great deal of support.
8 VFL Burrowed in at every opportunity. Real competitor.
9 WB Played one quarter and found the pace of the game pretty hot. 1
10 VFL Solid game in the midfield after AFL debut last week.
11 VFL Knocked up winning the ball. Great effort.
13 VFL Accumulated the ball well and played his role.
14 VFL Hard worker in and around the contests.
15 VFL Chipped in with two handy goals and 20+ touches.
