2014 Digest:   Multiple premiership player at Geelong who has shifted north in the twilight of his career. Will provide a steadying influence at half back as well as his raking left boot. Recently married and has had a big influence already on the younger players.

2014 NAB Cup:   Added some muscle to the Giants back half. Rested for the final practice match at the weekend.

2014 Season

1 Syd Sometimes transgressed, but his strength was an asset overall. 6
2 StK Saunders got away from him and he had a quiet day. 3
3 Melb Useful contributor and strong body was handy in heavy going. 6
4 WB Mopped up well down back and was an important figure in the first half. 6
5 Adel Lethal left foot often used to get the defence out of trouble. 6
6 GCS Missed a couple of shots in the third quarter, which was costly. 5
7   Knee.  
8 WCE Used the ball fairly well, but found Cripps a bit quick at times. 5
10 NEAFL Played forward, and dined out with five goals.
11 NEAFL Kicked a couple, and is enjoying move forward.
12 NEAFL Again played forward, kicking a couple, plus 5 I50s
13 Bris Booted a thumping goal that lifted side. 3
14 Carl Managed to mop up some Carlton forward thrusts, taking 10 marks. 6
15 Syd Used the ball at 90 per cent. Just a shame he didn't get more of it. 5
16 NEAFL Impressed, with 25 disposals.
17 NEAFL Has to be elevated again soon on strength of form.
18 Geel Kicked first goal but not a factor after that. Bartel kicked goal on him in third. 4
19 Rich Subbed out with hamstring issue in third term after a fair opening half. 3

21 NEAFL Brilliant with 22 disposals and two goals.
22 Coll Like he has in the NEAFL, played forward and provided an option. OK. 5
23 WB Went out in fine style. Used ball well in defence, attacked the game hard. 6

2013 Season

Played for : Geelong

1 Haw Went to Puopolo in the second half and did the job. 4
2   Glandular Fever.  
3 VFL Returned from injury and battled a bit down back.
4 VFL Named best for the Cats reserves off half back.
5 VFL Finding some good form. Ready to return.
6 VFL Struggled a bit early but improved when switched to a wing.
7 VFL Bye.
8 Coll Took time to adjust after long time out. OK later and will get better. 3
9 Port Sub. Only time for one handball. 1
10 GCS Starting to find his feet. Attack on the footy first class and ball use to match. 6
11 GWS Slowly finding his feet. Kicked two goals and steady across half back. 7
13 Bris One of the positives. Getting back to something nearing his best. 6
14 Frem Had Ballantyne beaten until a bizarre illness struck in third and subbed out. 5
15 Haw Had three inside-50s and four rebound 50s to go with some fine ball use. 6
16 Melb Did a fine job quelling Watts and provided rebound when he had to. 6
17 Adel Clean hands and attack on the ball good again. Not huge rebounding. 5
18   Shin.  
19 NM Went with Thomas at times and good in that role. Left man when he could. 6
20 VFL Speed and goalkicking proved decisive in win over Williamstown.
21 VFL Starred down back and his kicking was a delight to watch.
22 VFL Did what was required at half back.
23 VFL Poor first half, but came into the game after half time.
QF   Ankle.  
SF Port Rotated through Gray/Wingard/Monfries and did a reasonable job. 5
PF Haw Battled to contain the Hawks forwards and subbed out in what was likely last game. 2

4 Rich First-up effort from calf injury a handy one. Played 88 minutes game time. 5
5 Bris Gave away a few unlucky frees and only battled down back. 3
6 Melb Did some great things defensively and was very handy off half back. 6
7 Adel Actually held up pretty well despite team getting hammered. 6
8 Coll Solid enough in defence and good late when Cats made charge. 5
9 WB Hit back well from week in spotlight. Showed courage some had questioned. 7
10 GWS Quiet first half but lifted to help team get on top in run to the wire. 5
11 Carl Struggled on Betts then began to win the battle in second half despite injury. 5
13 Syd One of few Cats to play a solid four quarters. 7
15 GCS One of the better defenders. Didn’t make any glaring mistakes like some. 7
16 Coll Had Thomas at times and battled. Used ball when he got it but not enough. 4
17 Ess Timely spoils a highlight of his effort. Stats not huge but did job on Davey. 6
18 Adel Really stood up in final term when game on line with great spoiling. 6
19 Haw Did well on Rioli and others until injured thigh late in third term. 5
21 StK Milne kicked 4.3 but he still provided an option from defence. 6
22 WB Huge effort highlighted by 12 first-quarter possessions. Career best form? 7
23 Syd Solid again with his presence and clean hands. Career-best form. 7
EF Frem Quiet start but helped breathe life into game with two goals. OK. 5
