2016 Digest:   Sent a scare through the camp after copping a heavy hit in a marking contest last week. Taken to hospital but cleared of serious injury. Club will be cautious but shouldn’t interfere with his preparation. Has the experience to make full back his own.

2016 NAB Cup:   Out indefinitely after sustaining a serious concussion at training.

1 Coll Tried hard but outmuscled by Cloke. 5
2 NM On Petrie initially. Kept at his task. 4
3 Rich On Riewoldt. OK for most of the night but burden broke him in the end. 4
4 WCE Again out-muscled. Tries hard but outclassed and out-sized by Kennedy. 5
5 GCS Hands full all night with the Suns talls but fought on. 3
6 Carl Defensively OK but nothing going the other way. 3
7 Port Had his hand full with Schulz but far from disgraced. 6
8 Ess Started on Carlisle and tried to check him closely but to little effect. 3
9 StK Had a spell on Riewoldt and Bruce. OK. 6
10 GWS Did a decent job on Cameron until the GWS star broke free in second half. 5
12 WB Had his work cut out at full back against Boyd. 4
13 Adel Had trouble keeping Jenkins in check. 5
14 Frem Didn’t give Pavlich much room, but when he did he was made to pay. 5
15 Syd Tall defender who went to Franklin in shuffle up and did Ok. 5
16 Melb Hammered by Hogan early then switched to Dawes and had much better success. 5
17 NM Slightly mismatched minding Brown who three goals from five shots. 4
18 Geel Got lost down back when Cats moved the ball quicker. Tough day. 3
19 GCS Out-muscled against Lynch and Dixon and beaten by Martin. Tough night. 4

1 Haw Big task on Roughead and OK early but the big Hawk got on top. 3
2 Geel Battled away in defence without causing Cats too many concerns. 4
3 GCS Really blanketed his opponent Thompson and could hold his head high. 6
4 Port Kicked a great goal after leaving his opponent in the third term. 4
5 Rich Started well then had diminishing impact. 4
6 StK OK on Stanley in first half but then the Saint got away. 5
7 Syd Outgunned by Reid. 4
8 Ess Went to Carlisle second term and was a hard working defender. 5
9 NM On Petrie most of the time and stuck to his guns. 5
11 Carl Did everything required on dangerous Waite. 6
12 WB Kept Crameri to one goal and didn’t let him off the leash, even when coming off ground. 6
13 GWS Had big job on Cameron but didn’t contain him. 4
14 Frem Variety of match-ups down back and at one stage even on Ballantyne. 4
15 NM Outgunned by Petrie. 5
16 Rich Great job keeping Riewoldt to two goals and won some key one-on-ones. 7
17 WCE Responsible for Darling. Struggled. 4
18 GCS Forced Lynch to go up the ground to get possessions, which was clever. 4
19 Melb Battled hard but wasn’t a major player in a error-riddled contest. 3
20 Adel Never got a stat in two quarters and beaten by Walker. Subbed at half time. 0
21 Coll Cloke troubled him early then did OK before Magpie went off injured. 5
22 Frem Hands full in defence and day mad worse with head knock in last quarter. 4
23 Geel Found Hawkins a handful and in the end had to be moved. 3

2013 Season

1 NEAFL Continued his strong preseason form down back.
2 NEAFL Usual stoic self down back. One to watch.
3 NEAFL Safe as houses down back. Promising type.
4 NEAFL Stoic in defence. Good in one-on-ones.
5 Melb Good effort on debut opposed to Pederson. Promising type. 6
6 Syd Found AFL footy a bit tougher this week on Reid and Pyke. 3
7 WCE Showed plenty. Composed in defence and had 22 disposals. 7
8 Ess Late bump on Kavanagh will be costly. Didn’t seem to get back on track. 3
9   Suspended.  
10 Coll Started at CHB on Lynch and was OK. 4
12 Frem Not big stats but there is a bit to like about him as a tall defender. 5
13 Geel Found going tough down back and couldn’t find the ball offensively. 3
14 Haw Plenty of lessons to be learned under the pump in defence 3
15 GCS Reliable cog in Lions’ defensive wheel. 5
16 NM Worked hard in defence for little reward (possession wise). 4
17 Melb Fitzpatrick gave him all sorts of problems at times, but did a few good things. 4
18 Port Lined up on Butcher and kept him to just one goal. 5
19 StK Worked hard in defensive roles on Stanley and Lee. 5
20 Rich Busy in defence, did not get a chance to use his pace with limited possessions. 5

1 NEAFL Never gave his opponent an inch down back.
2 NEAFL Defended well when the ball came his way.
3 NEAFL Competed well as a key defender again.
4 NEAFL Defended well and provided good rebound.
5 NEAFL Did well down back shutting down Mugavin,
7 NEAFL Had his hands full down back.
8 NEAFL Didn’t have a great deal to do down back.
10 NEAFL Did a fine job down back on Jason Eagle.
12 NEAFL Held Fraser goalless. Convincing effort in defence.
13 NEAFL Defended stoutly for most of the day.
14 NEAFL Did have a great deal to do in defence.
15 NEAFL Struggled to contain Walsh early. Better late.
16 NEAFL Didn’t give an inch down back. Good game.
17 NEAFL Took Josh Fraser out of the game.
18 NEAFL Fair in defence. Grose had the better of him a few times.
19 NEAFL Did a fine job down back on Clouston and Pullman.
21 NEAFL Pretty good again down back. Had a good year.
22 NEAFL Held the dangerous Cleve Hughes to two goals.
23 NEAFL Kept Ewing to just the one goals. Had a good year.
SF NEAFL Had his hands full with Ewing at times but stuck to task.
PF NEAFL Controlled the back half and kept a cool head.
