2017 Digest:   Missed most of 2016 with an ankle injury, but has had a trouble-free summer and looks ready to take back a spot in the best 22 at half back.

2017 Season

1 Carl Hardly sighted in opening half then got more involved. Steady without starring. 5
3 WCE Sound game. Showed poise in difficult moments on the outside. 7
4 Bris Saw off Bewick on a wing and then got the better of McCluggage. 6
5 Melb Marked well at times using his long arms to advantage. Not a big ball winner, but handy enough in patches. 5
6 Adel Was prepared to leave his man and rebound forward, was okay amongst the carnage. 5
7 WB Half-back started well but had problems at stages in the second half under fire from Bulldogs. 5
8 Frem Battled hard throughout playing across half back. When he could provide some run he was committed to doing so. 6
9 GWS Not big numbers in back half but wasn’t the worst. 5
10 Ess Went to McIntosh early in game and did a fine job quelling his ability to influence the game in open play. 6
11 NM Among the Tiger’s best. Beat Garner while also grabbing 24 possessions and laying six tackles. Pleasing effort. 7

13 Syd Covered off well down back at stages. Showed good speed. Not the worst. 6
14 Carl Did some good things on a wing, then in defence. Played his part. 6
15 Port Underrated player who can stop an opponent and find plenty of his own footy. 6
16 StK No impact at all. 2
17 Bris Flies under the radar but generally does his job. 6
18 GWS Half-back/wingman was handy. Missed a sitter in third term then nailed a set-shot from same spot two minutes later. 5
19 GCS Disposal efficiency was poor (31%), though defensive pressure was good. 4
20 Haw Green boots weren’t great this week. Linked a few times but generally others were more influential. 3
21 Geel Had it 13 times but didn’t provide any of his usual run and carry. 4
22 Frem His contested work was good and he kicked a goal. 6
23 StK Plodded away wing/half back and was able to gather 13 disposals. Didn’t star but did his job. 5
QF Geel Wingman was decisive with his running, particularly early in the game when it was tight. Modest stats but effective. 6
PF GWS Ran off a wing – had long periods opposed to Scully. Kicking needs work at stages, but had a dip. 5
GF Adel Stats limited but was handy early when the game was hot in first term. Nine touches. 5

2016 Season

1 Carl On a wing opposed mostly to Curnow then went to half back to give some run. Just OK. 4
2 Coll Spent much of the night running off half back and was a strong ball winner. 7
3 Adel Provided some run off half back in new role. Defended well when required as well. 6
4 WCE Made too many errors. Lots of touches but lots of mistakes. 4
5 Melb Used across half back on a variety of opponents. Certainly not the worst. 5

2015 Season

1 Carl Celebrated long delayed debut with aggressive running. Good size and speed. 7
2 WB Unable to recreate Round 1 performance. Minimal impact despite stats. 3
3 Bris In only third game, bagged two goals and worthy contributor. 5
4 Melb Unable to recreate Round 1 performance. 4
5 Geel Did some good things off a wing. Eight marks and five inside-50s. 6
6 NM Hardly sighted first half (four disp) and theme continued in second half. 2
7 Coll Involved at times but took a back seat as others did the job. 5
8 Port Won plenty of footy but was rather inconspicuous. 6
9 Ess Ran hard from a wing and set up numerous attacks. Not always clean. 6
10 Frem First game back in home state was handy. 4
12 WCE Rarely sighted. 2
13 Syd Sub. A handful of touches after coming on for Edwards, then Lambert. 1
14 GWS Sub. Provided some late run which was a key in tight game. 2
15 Carl Found space off a wing at times without setting the game alight. 5
16 StK Solid effort from the young man. 5
17 Frem Kicked a goal and was handy at times in transition from defence to attack. 5
18 Haw On wing spending most of time on Hill and was effective. Nice snap goal. 5
19 Adel Played deeper than usual rebounding five times out of defensive 50. 5
20 GCS Sub. Time for as few touches when party was in full swing. 1
21 Coll Didn’t star but played a handy role as defensive wingman. 6
22 Ess Pace and run off a wing gave the team drive all night. Seven inside-50s. 7
23 NM Did a few handy things but not a standout. 4
EF NM Worked hard throughout. Solid effort in first final. 6

2014 Season

1 PM Up and down day in defence. Good at times.
2   Didn’t play for Richmond VFL.  
3 VFL Not his best.
4 VFL Won his own ball and tagged Venditti out of the game.
5 VFL Used in a number of roles and showed a bit. Kicked a nice goal.
6 VFL Up and down afternoon. Handy at times, but made some errors.
7 VFL In and out of the game without much impact.
8 VFL Bye.
9   Didn’t play for Richmond VFL.  
10 VFL Had 14 touches but gave away three frees.
11 VFL OK in patches but needs to improve rapidly.
12 VFL Bye.

1 PM Attacked the ball hard and was a strong competitor.
2 VFL In and out of the game and was caught a few times.
3 VFL Did some nice things but was overwhelmed by numbers.

5 VFL Did a few good things. Developing nicely.
6 VFL In and out of the game. Inconspicuous.
7 VFL Bye.
8 VFL Beaten early by Warren and was shifted away. Good experience.
9 VFL Did a few nice things but was beaten on the day.
10   Senior emergency.

12 VFL Did a good defensive job and rarely lost a contest.
13 VFL Worked into the game at stages but still a fair way off.
14 VFL Forced to play as a key defender and had his hands full.
15 VFL Did some nice things but needed to do a bit more.
