2017 Season

1 Rich Struggled playing predominantly forward with odd run in ruck. One goal but rarely looked dangerous. 3
2 Melb Clunked a few strong marks – and more importantly converted one in the final term. Not his best, but fair. 5
3 Ess Crashed packs but didn’t impact the game in wet conditions. Two marks and 11 hit-out as pinch-hit ruckman. 2
4 GCS Two last-quarter goals to end with three but lacked impact when it mattered in middle terms. 5
5 Port Kicked the Blues only two goals for the first half and ended the game with four majors. 7
6 Syd Looked dangerous in the air up forward and two goals in second term proved handy in getting side back into the match. 5
7 Coll Spanked by Reid in first half, and conceded a series of free kicks but relished a drier ball to snare two late goals. 4
8 StK Struggled after a good month. Didn’t hit the scoreboard and failed to have an impact in the air. 3
9 Frem Kicked two goals and took two contested marks. 6
10 NM Chipped in with two goals and spent some time in the ruck. Worked hard to bring the ball to the deck. 5
11   Bye.  
12 GWS Big “Meat” threw his sizeable rump around the place. Kicked one goal from 12 disposals. 4
13 GCS Undid all his aerial work with poor execution on goal. Frustratingly good! 5
14 Rich Booted two goals and took some strong marks. Will have impressed prospective suitors – including the Tigers. 6
15 Adel Great one on one battle with Daniel Talia, two goals and some strong contested marking made it an even contest. 6
16 Melb Marking was outstanding (six contested) and was always a dangerous player inside forward 50. One goal. 7
17 WB Dangerous on occasions but just one goal. Missed a sitter in final term from 11 metres out directly in front. 4
18 Bris Finished with two goals but it could easily have been a couple more. Troublesome for the Lions defenders at times. 6
19 Geel Provided a target when ball came to him with some sharpness. Five marks and three goals a handy return. 6
20 Ess Big ‘Meat’ grabbed six marks and one goal. Dangerous at times but nice if he hit scoreboard more. 5
21 WCE His final term goal was superb from a tough angle. Kicked two for the game. 5
22 Haw Not huge numbers but kicked 2 goals and provided an important contest down the line. 5
23 Syd Kicked just the one goal and was well beaten by Grundy. Frustrations got the better of him. 3

2016 Season

1 Rich Provided a marking target but misses proved extremely costly. Needs goalkicking work…fast. 4
2 Syd Started well but suffered from a lack of supply inside 50. Had kicking boots on. 5
3 GCS Marked everything early on before May moved to him. Kicking still an issue. 5
4 WB Pretty solid in one-on-ones but kicked both set shots out on the full. 3
5 Frem Marked well and kicked poorly. The story of his life. 4
6 Ess Couple of big marks (four contested) but in the end not a factor. No goals. 3
7 Coll Resembled Stewart Loewe with some of his pack grabs. Goalkicking was better but had the odd shank. 7
8 Port Looked like he injured ACL after taking big mark in first term but it is a fractured leg. Out for two months. 0
9   Leg.  
10 Geel One goal but pretty well checked by Lonergan in a good battle. 3
11 Bris Crushed some packs but was well held by a disciplined and close checking Merrett. 3
12 StK Started well and posed a menace early but didn’t do enough overall. Three goals. 4
14 GWS Presented well up forward by taking seven marks (three contested), but failed to kick a goal. 4
15 Coll Another underwhelming performance in attack. Failed to hit the scoreboard. 2
16 Adel Talia had by far the better of the match-up. Frustration boiled over at one point. 1
17   Suspended.  
18 Syd Found it tough getting away from Grundy. Well beaten. 3
19 Haw Clunked a few late but genuinely well held in attack. Failed to lay a tackle. 3
20 StK Took some strong marks but again let down by his finishing. 3
21 Bris Four-goal bag handy but missed a couple of set shots that proved costly in the end. 7
22 Melb Unable to get much room opposed to T.McDonald, but competed well in the air. 4
23 Ess Clunked a couple of grabs but overall an average game. 3

2015 Season

2 WCE Two late goals after a few horrid misses. Contested marking solid. 5
3 Ess Couldn’t impact the game up forward and offered little in the ruck. 3
4 StK Some big marks but kicking for goal was atrocious. 3
5 VFL Quiet afternoon in win over Sandringham.
6 Bris Two first-half goals and another two-goal return in second half. Did his bit. 7
7 GWS Spent time in ruck and also defence after starting in attack. Quiet. 3
8 Geel Couldn’t get near the ball or the man – two tackles. 2
9 Syd Got involved with two goals in third term but remainder was quiet. 5
10 Adel Three goals, including one banana effort, from six marks. Tried hard. 6
12 Port Jagged two important goals from six marks and provided a presence. 5
13 GCS Three goals a good return. Looked dangerous inside the arc as ball came in. 7
14 WB Took some good marks but they were up the ground. Just one goal. 4
15 Rich Looked dangerous at times in the air when given the opportunities. 6
16 Frem No goals, two marks. Had to do more. 2
17 Haw Took one hanger but for the remainder not a factor in ruck or forward. 3
18 NM Two goals and a few nice grabs but not his best night. 4
19 Coll Two goals and took a few great contested marks. 7

2014 Season

1 PM Kicked a goal and took a few good marks after a slow start.
2   Northern Blues didn’t play.  
3 VFL Strong effort and was unbeatable in the air.
4 Melb Worked hard but a lack of polish and class dampened his overall impact. 4
5 WB Matched on Talia early. Neither had influence. 4
6 WCE Took contested marks, then kicked the ball out of bounds on the full. 3
7 Coll Started impressively with strong marking. Not the worst. 5
8 StK Grabbed seven marks from centre half forward but missed three chances for goal. 5
10 Adel Gave his all forward and in ruck. Couple of key touches when game on line. 5
11 Bris Couple of marks but didn’t do much else. 3
12 Geel Looked dangerous in air at times up forward and up the ground. Needs polish. 5
13 Haw Huge. Three goals in second term and four for the match. Coming of age. 7
14 GWS Used in a variety of roles around the ground, had very little impact. 3
15 Coll Couple of marks for ‘Meat’ but set-shot kicking looks like he’s chopping wood. 3
16 StK Strong marking gave St Kilda headaches. Growing in maturity. Four goals. 7
17 Syd The marking machine keeps improving, although failed to hit scoreboard. 5
18 NM Matched on Hansen. A few strong marks but quiet overall. 4
19 Frem One goal early in third term but quiet all night. Three marks, one goal. 3
20 GCS Contract talks on his mind? Well beaten by Thompson. 3
21 Geel No goals, four marks and pretty well beaten in the ruck. 3
22 Port Strong marking as always is a feature, provided back-up support in ruck. 5
23 Ess Took six marks but failed to make an impact in front of goals. 4

2013 Season

1 Rich Struggled to get anywhere near it up forward. Better when thrown into ruck. 2
2 Coll Marked strongly on the lead and gave a good target. 5
3 VFL Only played three quarters but presented well.
4 VFL Dominant big man on the ground. Imposed himself on the game.
5 VFL Played OK up forward and in the ruck. Two goals.
6 VFL Kicked four goals in a dominant display up forward.
7 VFL Bye.
8 VFL Gave the Blues a presence up forward and in the ruck. Good.
9 VFL Bye.
10 GWS Four contested marks and was a handy foil for Kreuzer in the ruck. 5
11 Ess Marked strongly. Also pirouetted to score impressive goal. 7
12 Haw Big first half (four contested marks and a goal). Didn’t touch ball after main break. 4
14 Syd More effective in the ruck than up forward due to horror conditions. Not his best. 3
15 Coll Nice mark and goal early but then it all dried up. Struggled to impact in ruck. 3
16 VFL Bye.
17 VFL A tower of strength in the air and provided a strong focal point.
18 VFL Kicked three goals and was dominant in the air.
19 VFL Marked well again and has to be close to a senior recall.
20 VFL Got better as the game wore on. Ended with 2.3 and marked well.
21 Rich Clunked some big grabs and kicked the sealer in the last. Impressive display. 7
22 Ess Took some nice grabs but his decision making poor at times. 5
23 Port His marking is a real feature of his game, his kicking for goal is not. 3

2012 Season

15 VFL First game back and was quiet.
17 WB Caught the eye with some strong marking on debut. Didn’t drop head in ruck. 5
18 Rich Big kid not suited by conditions but still helped out. 4
19 Syd Height advantage on Richards. Couple of strong marks good for confidence. 4
20 Bris Marking/workrate fantastic but kicking needs serious work. One banana goal. 5
21 Ess Kicked a goal right out of his arse in first half. Ended with three, six marks. 6
22 GCS Had his opportunities, but kicked 0.5 which was ultimately costly. 4
