2017 Digest:   Knocked back advances from Collingwood to remain at the kennel and now has to fight his way into the best 22. Not the easiest task though.

2017 Season

1 Coll 14 tackles an indication of his night at the office trying to stop Pie mids. Only two kicks, however. 5
2 Syd Played his role and played it well. Iced game with a goal and seven tackles playing forward and midfield. 7
3 Frem Worked hard. Collected 24 possessions and won four clearances. 6
4 NM Couldn’t question workrate and commitment but lacks the poise and polish to put opponent in the hurt locker. Effort huge. 6
5 Bris Kicking still lets him down. Missed a goal from 11 metres out. Couldn’t question effort but not the polish to match. 4
6 GWS Started pretty well but faded like an acid wash pair of jeans when the game went up a notch. 4
7 Rich Surprising to see him take ruck role a couple of bounces. Added plenty of run around the field in a good game. 7
8 WCE Quality game. His clearance work and ball winning was crucial. 7
9 Geel Six tackles, four inside-50s and 24 disposals a handy effort. Only downside is his lack of poise at times with ball in hand. 6
10 StK Plenty of handballs in strong start and maintained a steady output in the midfield. 6

2016 Season

1   Played in VFL trial against Essendon.  
2   Played in VFL trial against Werribee.  
3 Haw Only one tackle and 13 possessions in his first game for 2016. Below par. 4
4 Carl Used as a pressure forward but couldn’t get into game. Only goal came from Blue mistake. 3
5 Bris Worked hard in tight to feed the ball out to running mids. Pushed forward for an easy goal. 5
6 NM Started well on Atley. Game was mixed bag with some good and some poor work. 5
7 VFL Threw himself in at every opportunity and coached thrilled with output.
8 VFL Massive game headlined by seven tackles, heaps of footy and two goals. Huge.
9 GWS Rarely sighted after a promising two-goal opening quarter. 4
10   Suspended.  
11   Suspended.  
12 VFL Won 20 contested possessions, five inside-50s and five tackles. Among best.
13 Geel Showed strong hands on occasions and got involved a bit in tight. OK without starring. 6
15 Syd Had a solid game despite occasional hasty kicks. 5
16 Rich Next stop on the tour could be the VFL after an ordinary game. Little influence. 4
17 GCS Impressive work ethic playing mostly in the midfield. Laid a game-high nine tackles. 6
18 StK Lively performer in midfield. 5
19 Geel Struggled to impact the game. Most things he did were under pressure. 3
20 NM Copped heavy knock in third term then another soon after. Handy overall. 6
21 Coll Began in middle. Two goals in third term fired his team. 6
22 Ess Midfielder had a big first quarter. Influence tapered but still handy overall. 6
23 Frem That’s a good way to enter September – a career high 28 disposals. 7
EF WCE Injured shoulder in second term and done for the night. Is that his last game as a Dog? 2

PF VFL Shoulder was worked over by Casey but won medal for best afield. Huge.

2015 Season

1 WCE Quiet early but ended with a team high eight inside-50s and four clearances. 7
2 Rich Solid start to year continues. Took some nice marks and won the hard ball. 5
3 Haw Continued good form without being as incisive as other games. 6
4 Adel Great start spearing out handballs in first term. Capped with two goals. 7
5 Syd Plugged away in middle but possessions didn’t impact. One goal handy. 4
6   Hand.  
7 Frem Just one touch in first half on return from injury. Not one to remember. 3
8 Melb Struggled. Snagged early goal but he never sighted around the ball. 2
9 GWS Late reprieve to be re-included in team. OK. 5
10 Port Five tackles, three clearances but little else. 4
12 VFL Back to early season form with 27 touches, six tackles.
13   Rested.

15 VFL Good contributor in midfield with 21 touches, five tackles.
16 VFL Battled hard in close to get ball moving Footscray’s way.
17 VFL Just nine touches but competed strongly.
18 VFL Used strong body to advantage around the ball to clear path.
19 Port First game since Rd 10, started in ruck on occasions but didn't find much of it. 3
20 Melb Johnny on the spot twice in the goalsquare and was handy around the packs. 6
21 WCE Only nine touches but four were clearances and he laid six tackles. 5
22 VFL Led the way with 13 tackles to keep heat on ‘Bees.
23 VFL Tried hard with two goals, 33 touches despite sore knee.
EF Adel Hard-running game and took big mark for goal in third. Effective. 6

2014 Season

1 PM Battled hard after a strong pre-season but sat out final term.
2 NM Surprise packet in midfield in second quarter. Made several errors under pressure. 4
3 Rich Started on the wing on Grigg and hurt him with two goals. 6
4 GWS Ran with Scully and kept him honest. Solid toiler. 6
5 Carl Not a big factor but competitive type. 4
6 Adel Played a close-checking role on Dangerfield. Tried but beaten. 4
7 VFL Attacked the ball hard. OK without being a standout.
8 VFL Battled hard defensively. 11 possessions.
9 VFL Bye.
10 VFL Quiet game with nine possessions and one tackle.
11 VFL Bye.
12 VFL Hard worker in midfield to end with 20 touches.
13 VFL Chopped off a few Port attacks and hit the ball hard.
14 VFL Tagged Kyle Martin and stuck to his task well to get the points.
15 VFL Competed hard and laid some good tackles.
16 VFL Hard worker around the ball with 12 tackles. Good.
17 VFL Plugged away in midfield without being a standout.
18 VFL Worked hard in midfield to help negate Bomber mids.
19 VFL Worked hard in close to set up teammates on outside.
20 VFL Battled hard in midfield and kicked a goal.
21 VFL Best for the Dogs’ in VFL win over Casey.
22 Syd Had Hannebery early but couldn’t curtail him. No possessions in 1st term. 2
23 VFL Hard worker in midfield and laid five strong tackles.
SF VFL Best afield after signing new deal. 28 touches – in everything.
PF VFL Close to the Dogs’ best. Attack on ball and man was superb.

2013 Season

1 VFL Good early until forced off and didn’t return.

2012 Season

4 VFL Struggled with the tempo.
5 VFL Best game thus far. Gave Seagulls a real lift.
6 VFL Not the type of conditions that suit him.
8 VFL The best for the Seagulls. Attack on the ball a feature.
10 VFL Competed hard all day, had a real go.
11 VFL Worked into the game more as it progressed. Good late.
12 VFL Slightly down on recent showings but still had a dig.
14 VFL Another Seagull to struggle to make an impact.
18 VFL Did a few good things and attacked the ball hard.
20 Rich Debutant wasn’t disgraced in what will be a great learning experience. 4
21 Syd Threw himself in and not frightened to mix it. Did OK for second-gamer. 6
