2017 Season

1 Geel Beat Taylor pretty handsomely and did what he could to stem the flow that at times got out of control. 6
2 Port Reflexes and reaction time not as good as the use to be. 4
3 WB Looked more like the player of the past. Was composed and enjoyed some freedom in the ruck. 5
4 Melb Patrolled key defensive post in reasonable fashion. Involvement late was key when Dees were coming hard in dying seconds. 6
5 NM Important as the back up ruckman who also plays a creator in defence. One of the best. 7
6 WCE Had a crack and did a good defensive job under enormous pressure. 6
7 Ess Another solid performance. No longer rucking and can focus on his opponent in defence. 6
8 Rich Huge game. Kept Tigers at bay, particularly in final term when the team was under siege. Ended day with 21 disposals. 8
9 Carl A rock in defence. Took three contested marks in the wet. 7
10 Adel Kept Taylor Walker to one goal which was one of the few Fremantle wins on the night. 6
11 Coll Did a good job in defence. Held firm. 6
12 Bris Knocked Hipwood over after half time in attempt to fire-up his teammates. To no avail. Took heavy knock to hip but plugged on. 5

14 Geel Wonderful job keeping Hawkins who kicked one goal. He held up his end of the bargain. 7
15 StK Did well in defence and marshalled the troops strongly. 7
16 NM Mixed and matched after early injuries and was handy enough. 5
17 WCE Played forward and back. Didn’t get much of the ball. 5
18 Haw The back up ruckman and good in defence too. 6
19 GWS Played on multiple opponents but wasn’t great in some one-on-one contests. 5
20 GCS Solid job defensively. Took 11 marks and helped to repel the ball. 6
21 Syd Extremely poor. Beaten defensively often and didn’t organise his younger teammates. 1
22 Rich Well beaten by Townsend. The Tiger kicked six goals. 3
23 Ess Mixed and matched his opponents down back and did a serviceable job. 6

2016 Season

2 GCS Took some contested marks. Rebounded the footy. Did OK. 5
3 WCE Got thrown around as the team tried to cover for Sandilands. It didn’t help him. 5
4 NM Gave Brown a bit too much room at times when trying to sag off and support defence. 5
5 Carl Tried hard in defence. Didn’t have much of an impact though. 5

1 Port Played an accountable defensive role instead of being free. 5

4 Syd Good job on Tippett even though the Swan kicked two goals. 6
5 Melb Did well in defence opposed mainly to Pedersen. Steady. 6
6 Ess No issues stopping Carlisle. The Don didn’t have a shot for goal. 7
7 WB Gave Stringer a lesson. Marshalled the back half with aplomb. 8
8 NM Had control of Waite and found plenty of the ball too. 6
9 Adel Nullified the influence of Jenkins. 6
10 Rich Injury hamstring in first term in 200th game. Subbed out. 1

PF Haw Looked good early as spare in defence then impact diminished. 5

2014 Season

1 Coll Spare in defence and picked up touches at will with superb reading of play. 8
2 GCS Steady down back and lead side with seven rebound 50s and kicked a goal. 6
3 Haw In depleted defence had to take on standard defensive role on Roughead. 5
4 Ess Alongside McPharlin continued to keep the Bombers at bay down back. 8
5 Syd Solid in defence, he also drifted forward to kick two goals. 6
6 NM Again was a tower of strength in defence with his marking and reading of the play. 7
7 WCE His long kicking was a big plus when Freo went forward on the break. 7
8 Port Port’s tall forwards weren’t a real problem for Freo. Johnson led well. 6
9 Geel Got loose from the back half enough to be a damaging player. 7
11 WB Did well as part of a backline that was under siege all day. 6
12 Adel Injured his knee and subbed off in a major blow. 3

17 GWS Eased back in without too much fuss down back. Handy performer 5

21 Haw Back to some really good offensive form with 29 possessions. 7
22 Bris Nothing out of the ordinary but very serviceable. 5
23 Port On Westhoff. Leg was heavily bandaged and struggled at times. 3

2013 Season

1 WCE Took the resting ruckman and provided some rebound. Just fair. 5
2 WB Defensively he was a handy contributor with six rebound 50s. 6
3 Ess Used as last-line defender for lot of evening did it quite well. 6
4 Haw Stood Roughead and struggle with the Hawk’s strength and movement. 4
5 Rich Another defender whose aerial strength was important in the win. 7
6 GCS Even battle with Brennan, and also played the loose man role. 5
7 Coll Sturdy game down back. Always does the one-percenters. 6
8 Syd The most important player on the ground in the final term, his last shot fell just short. 7
9 Melb In good form at centre half back and pushed forward to support. 7
10 Adel Created numerous Docker attacks as the plus-one in defence. 7
12 Bris Telling use of the ball off half back and chimed in for two goals. 8
13 NM Dictated his own terms across half back and seldom made an error. 8
14 Geel Blicavs nullified his influence to a degree. Allowed limited space. 5
15 StK Read play well roaming across defence and had a lot of the ball. 6
16 WCE Again read the play beautifully off half back and generated forward moves 7
17 Rich Had Vickery but dropped off to provide aerial support. In All-Australian form. 7
18 Adel Zoned off again down back to provide support to fellow defenders. Sturdy. 7
19 Carl Continued his good form in defence. Stood tall in the absence of McPharlin. 7
20 GWS Didn’t have a lot to do apart from second term but did what he had to. 6
21 Melb Along with Duffield won plenty of uncontested footy in defence. OK without starring. 5
22 Port Tracked Westhoff and was also effective in creating. 7

PF Syd Welcome return to the side and capped off All-Australian week with another solid effort. 7
GF Haw One of the better defenders. Got back into the hole to help teammates. 7

2012 Season

1 Geel Used as the link man out of defence with five rebound 50s. 6
2 Syd His height posed problems for the Swans and he took eight marks. 6
3 Bris Had a lot of the ball and sent it inside 50 five times. 6
4 StK Various roles in defence. 6
5 Carl Started on Thornton. Loose in defence at times. 4
6 GCS Was solid in defence and used the ball well. 6
7 Port Important performer at both ends. Had 27 disposals. 8
8 Haw Roamed as extra man in defence. 6
9 WCE Superb early. Was a dominant figure for a long time. 7
10 Adel Set up play well off half-back. Continued his fine season. 7
11 Rich Patrolled half back with aplomb despite some mistakes that were costly. 7
13 Ess Freo’s backline rotated on the Bomber talls. They all had issues. 5
14 Coll Had six rebounds and used the ball well when he got it. 6
15 WB Dominant early. Set up the win with his decision making. 7
16 Melb Didn’t have the impact he has at times this year from half back. Quiet. 3
17 GWS A defensive general. Set up a lot of play. 7
18 Port A few clangers in defence but on a whole shut down Justin Westhoff. 5
19 WCE Couldn’t play as the loose man but defended strongly. 6
20 Adel Played all over the place, spent time up forward before returning to defence. 5
21 Rich Not a loose man this week. Played as a genuine defender. 5
22 NM Not a big factor in defence. 4
23 Melb Had plenty o the ball and defended well too. 6
EF Geel Picked up Vardy at start. Neither had big influence. 3
SF Adel On Petrenko and won a lot of the footy. 6
