2016 Digest:   The veteran comes off an extremely satisfying season where he resumed his senior place when many had written him off due to ongoing foot problems. Now a real veteran but has put in a solid pre-season fulfilling all requirements.

2016 NAB Cup:   Tested by Demon attack but appears to be moving well.

2016 Season

Played for : St Kilda

1	Port	Great battle with the taller and heavier Dixon. Took the honours for three quarters.	7
2	WB	Gave away inches to Boyd and tried hard but was shaded in the end.	4
3	Coll	Took Cloke for long periods and steady in that role. Lost any pace but reads play well.	5
4	Haw	One costly error in second term but otherwise solid in the back half. Not big stats though.	5
5	GWS	Had his work cut out with bigger GWS forwards.	3
6	Melb	Having the job on Hogan a daunting prospect and he was well beaten.	3
7	NM	Started on man of the moment Petrie and did a solid job in holding him to two goals.	6
8		Soreness.
9	Ess	His return added experience and physical strength to defence. OK.	5
10	Frem	Pitted against Pavlich and did the job effectively all day in defence.	6

2015 Season

1	GWS	Did OK in negative role on Tomlinson.	5
2	GCS	Strong and assured in defence against Lynch and others.	6
3	Coll	Matched with White for the most part and kept him on a tight leash.	5
4	Carl	Casboult gave him some worries, but he battled on.	4
5	Ess	Restricted Carlisle’s chances but Bomber made the most of them.	6
6	WB	Looked a step off the pace in hot first half but showed composure late.	6
7	Adel	Good dual with Lynch, with the Crows forward taking the honours.	4
8	WCE	Worked hard on Kennedy but hurt hamstring in third term and out of game.	4
9		Hamstring.
10		Hamstring.
11		Hamstring.

13		Back.
14	Ess	Made his return successfully and did OK til subbed off at three-quarter time.	5
15	GWS	On resting talls and ran off them.	4
16	Rich	Important job on J. Riewoldt. Stuck close but the Tiger star still kicked 2.4.	5
17	Melb	Had the major role on Hogan and kept him to just one goal.	7
18	Port	Toiled honestly down back against the tide.	5
19	Frem	Had plenty of work down back.	4
20	NM	Started well but like other backmen under siege in third term	5
21	Geel	Hawkins had too much bulk for him early, but he battled on.	6
22	Syd	Had jobs on a variety of forwards and was satisfactory.	6
23	WCE	Had his hands full with tall forwards. Ended in attack.	4

2014 Season

18	Frem	Veteran was sure in defence and read play perfectly.	5
19	GCS	On D.Stanley and did OK apart from conceding initial goal.	5
20	WB	Had his moments on Bontempelli, but still gathered touches.	5
21	Syd	Mainly had job on Tippett and was satisfactory.	5
22	Rich	Mainly used ball by foot and had his hands full on big-jumping Griffiths.	5
23	Adel	Used as extra in defence and had good game to put up hand for another year.	7

2	Rich	Returned from foot injury and slow to get going but improved in latter part.	4
3	GWS	Shut down Cameron and also created by rebounds.	6

5	Syd	Sydney used negating forwards O’Keefe and others to lessen his effect.	5
6	Coll	Lacks a bit of zip and could be struggling with foot problem of pre-season.	4
7	Carl	Good early and read it will in defence. Armfield had negating role on him.	7
8	Adel	Worked well as leader of defence.	6
9	WB	Not only negated by Addison but the Bulldog also kicked four on him.	3
10	NM	Started on Petrie and looked to be struggling with groin injury.	4

1	Port	Forced to work overtime early. Outstanding late..	7
2	GCS	Read the play well coming out of defence.	7
3	WB	In great touch on back line and read play beautifully.	8
4	Frem	Freo gave Mayne the tagging role on important set-up man.	5
5	Melb	Did as he pleased in first term on Watts then partly reined in by Dunn.	6
6	Haw	Best and fairest winner struggled to get into game before hammy strain.	4
12	Adel	In return game went to Tippett in second half. Tired at end but solid game.	6
14	NM	Good first half then didn’t have as big an influence.	5
15	Ess	Back to his best as marking and creating defender.	7
16	Bris	Sacrificed normal creative game to lock down Jonathan Brown.	6
17	Syd	Dominant in first quarter and then had to contend with Goodes.	6
18	WB	Read the play well at all times and played his role perfectly in defence..	7
19	Coll	Had the better of Cloke and sacrificed his own game until creative last term.	7
20	Melb	Solid if unspectacular day.	6
21	Geel	Had to be shifted onto Hawkins which cut down his creativity.	6
