2017 Digest:   The athletic swingman showed glimpses last year but never established himself. Still on the fringe as it stands and a toe injury hasn't helped.

4	Frem	The best of the Dees tall defenders. Showed good athleticism and had less ‘heart in the mouth’ moments than McDonald.	6
5	Rich	Desperation in defence was evident throughout. Laid some goal-saving tackles and took the game on. Love his passion.	6
6	Ess	Had hands full with Daniher, but laid some great tackles and spoils to halt Bomber thrusts. Took game on with ball in hand too.	6
7	Haw	Job on Roughead produced mixed bag but importantly won a few one-on-ones and rebounded with some zest.	7
8	Adel	Despite conceding two goals, held Taylor Walker in check and provided great dash at times.	7
9	NM	Struggled against Brown who booted five goals. Couple od dashes and one goal but defensively beaten.	4
10	GCS	Did a very good job down back, even when the Suns were on top. Growing with each week.	7
11		Bye.
12	Coll	Caught a couple of times charging out of defence early, but then good when Dees made their run.	6
13	WB	Had a few iffy moments ­– including a poor turnover at half back, but took the game on and was strong in the air.	7
14	WCE	Pretty good job on Darling. Some of his dash was important.	6
15	Syd	Took Franklin who had a lot of the footy and ended up with four. Not his fault, but lowered colors.	4
16	Carl	Couple of gazelle-style dashes from the backend but was under siege at times. Casboult’s aerial stuff troubled him.	6
17	Adel	Took Jenkins for much of the night. Had a ‘mare though with fumbles and mistakes that cost goals at important times.	2
18	Port	Off early with a hamstring issue, then returned. Took Dixon and Wingard at times. Okay.	5
19	NM	Defensively suspect when taking his turn on Brown. Has to be better than that.	2
20	GWS	Adventurous with his run from defence, but gets caught out a bit. GWS talls didn’t dominate.	5
21		Senior emergency.
22	VFL	Did what was required in the back half.	–
23	VFL	Tough day down back. Had his colors lowered.	–

2016 Season

1	GWS	Used in attack with the odd stint in ruck. Had a few touches but struggled overall.	3
2		Played in VFL trial against Box Hill.
3	NM	Still working out his role in this team. Played forward and did a small amount of rucking.	2
4	Coll	Mixed good and bad. Ended with 1.2 from eight kicks and had four inside-50s.	4
5	Rich	Three inside-50s, one goal but not a big night. Got better later in the contest.	3
6	StK	Should have taken advantage of focus on Hogan but didn’t.	1
7	VFL	Used in defence on return to VFL and was strong in the contests.	–
8	VFL	Spent time in the back half but wasn’t a big factor.	–
9	VFL	Good athleticism and closing speed in defence. Should be persisted with in back half.	–
10	VFL	Bye.	–
11	Haw	Made some poor decisions with ball in hand but looked good at times in defence.	5
12	Coll	Used down back and made some mistakes. Looks like an athlete trying to play football.	4
13	Syd	Attacked ball well early and tried to force the ball forward. Drifted out of game.	4
15	Adel	Took the game on and was caught a few times but at least tried to be positive.	4
16	Frem	Tucked ball under arm a few times out of defence and was OK in the air.	4

18	WCE	Didn’t have a big say on the contest but marked well at times.	5
19	GCS	Gave run from defence although still leaves hearts in mouths. Liked his game.	6
20	Haw	Errors with skill execution and decision-making but kept battling.	4
21	Port	Lucky recipient of a 50-metre penalty that led to goal in the second term.	5
22	Carl	Took Jones and OK in that role, but slipped over too often and made some odd decisions.	4
23	Geel	Under siege and unable to get into the game. Tough to judge harshly.	3

1	GCS	Used at both ends and in ruck and provided the contest required.	4
2	GWS	Did well early against old club. Worked hard and played with energy. Then disappeared.	4

7	Port	Defender got a valuable lesson from Schulz.	5
8	WCE	Torched by Kennedy and had to be shifted away.	3

11	Haw	Battled away down back, backed himself, steady in the contests.	6
12	Ess	Picked up Merrett and marked well.	4

14	Carl	Tried to use his athleticism on Mitch Robinson but was beaten on the day.	4

12	NEAFL	Amongst the best again for the Giants in defence.	–
