Played for : Richmond

1 Carl Quiet night. One kick and will be very nervous about team selection already. 1

4 VFL Did what he wanted down back, but the calibre of the opposition has to be taken into account.
5 VFL 28 disposals playing as a sweeper on a wing to be one of the Tigers better performers.
6 VFL Used in a number of roles but wasn’t able to have a big impact overall.
7 VFL Okay without starring in the first half then sat out the remainder as a senior emergency.
8 VFL Did most of his work on the outside in defence. 24 possessions and seven rebounds.
9 VFL Just the 12 touches and never really got going.
10 VFL Restricted Bird to just 14 possessions in strong negating role.
11   Senior emergency.

13 VFL Did some good work again old mates at the Cats.
14 VFL Steady contributor with 24 possessions and two goals in big win.
15 VFL Put hand up for a recall. 28 possessions, 10 clearances and a goal.

17 VFL Made a fair amount of mistakes down back with his 30 disposals, 27 of which were uncontested.
18 VFL Played on the wings, in midfield and down back. Kicked a vital goal that put his team in the lead late in the game.
19 VFL Not a massive impact on the day but was really good when he get back to his defensive game.
20 VFL Bye.
21 VFL Used in a few roles in midfield and defence. Fair.
22   Didn’t play for Richmond VFL.  
23   Rested.  
QF VFL Not really a factor with just 10 touches.
SF VFL Did some good things, but was just a bit-part player.
PF VFL Lacked a bit of polish with the ball in hand. Kicked at just 50 per cent.

2016 Season

Played for : Richmond

1   Senior emergency.  
2 Coll Back into the team and looked a step off the pace for much of the evening in midfield. 3
3 VFL Responded well to axing with 25 possessions but could have been cleaner.
4 WCE No impact until the game was over. 3
5   Senior emergency.  
6 VFL Got enough of the ball but wasn’t able hurt Sandringham at all.
7 VFL Won his fair share of ball in midfield but was careless at times with disposal.
8 Syd Started in back half opposed to Hewitt. Got a bit of ball but didn’t cement spot. 4
9 Frem Solid. Won the ball in the back half. 5
10 Ess Former Cat did enough without starring. Used ball very short most times he got it. 5
11 NM No significant impact at all. 2
12 GCS Played down back opposed to Martin and Matera. Didn’t make any glaring mistakes. 5
14 Bris Took Green in back half and gave him too much room early. Clamped down after quarter time. 5
15 Port Lined up at centre half back but gave away too much height to Westhoff. 5
16 WB Used off a wing but struggled. One tackle, three inside-50s and eight kicks. 4
17 Ess Had Zaharakis at times and did handy job for the most part. Kicked a smart running goal. 6
18 Haw Got a lot of footy across half back and used it well but not huge damage. 5
19 GWS Came under a lot of pressure in defensive half, but remained calm to be respectable. 5
20 Coll Celebrated 100th game before getting cleaned up by former teammate Varcoe. 5
21 Geel Former Cat played well but like so many teammates got swamped in final term. 6
22 StK Plugged away in the back half. Ok without starring as a spare parts defender. 5
23 Syd Among Richmond’s best. Used it very well out of the backline. Eight marks, five rebounds. 7

2015 Season

Played for : Richmond

1 Carl Couldn’t have hoped for better start with new club as he ran hard. 8
2 WB Spent time on Bontempelli without much success, but did win a lot of his own ball. 6
3 Bris In the thick of it when Richmond laid the foundations for victory. 6
4 Melb Battled hard and kicked a goal but part of a beaten midfield group. 5
5 Geel Former Cat lifted after half time but not a huge factor. 5
6 NM Reality is setting in after great Round 1 performance. Struggled to get involved. 3
7 Coll Injected himself at times with some run from half back. Steady. 6
8 Port Always at the bottom of a pack laying a tackle. 5
9 Ess Played a defensive running role but didn’t win as much of the ball himself. 5
10 Frem Very prominent in first term attack. 5
12 WCE Started on Cripps and picked up a lot of kicks. 6
13 Syd Spent time down back and had a number of opponents. 4
14 GWS Chimed in at times at half back. Won some key ball late in the contest. 3
15 Carl Did what was required at half back and used the ball pretty well. 6
16 StK Weller caused him headaches. 3
17 Frem Steady without being a major influence on the contest. 5
18 Haw First match-up on Rioli. Not a big factor. 5
19 Adel Played well at half back sweeping up many Crows forward entries. 7
20 GCS Swept at half back with aplomb and got in the way at crucial times. 6
21 Coll Defensive work first class on Pies’ dangerous mid-sized players. 7
22 Ess Fitting in brilliantly as a workmanlike defender who just does his job. 6

EF NM Tried to run wit Harvey but was left calling for air in third term. 4

2014 Season

Played for : Geelong

1 Adel Used in defence and OK but made a couple of mistakes that cost goals. 4
2 Bris Not much run from down back but kicked a nice long goal. 4
3   Suspended.  
4 WCE Used deep back and went to Hill after quarter time and shut him out. 6
5 Haw Had Rioli/Breust/Hill and not his best day. Made some critical errors early. 3
6 Port Sub. Thrown into the middle in final term. 1
7 Rich Ended with two important goals that in wash-up was super important. 5
9 Frem Torched by Hill in first term then did lift but offered little offensively. 3
10 VFL Eight touches to half time then sat out second half.
11 VFL Bye.
12 VFL Worked hard but wasn’t a big factor despite 25 touches.
13 VFL One of the best rebounding off half back.
14 VFL Had 18 touches but wasn’t a big factor.
15 VFL Just five touches before a groin strain slowed him up.

1   Glandular Fever.  
2 NM Seemed to have Thomas at times and he got away. Worked hard other way. 5
3 Carl Tagged Murphy and was best on ground in first half with three goals. A key. 7
4 Syd Shadowed McGlynn and did it well after he got away in the first half. 5
5 WB Sub. On second term and used in defence on Dahlhaus at times. Handy. 4
6 Rich Tagged Deledio for the most part and stuck to that task with discipline. 6
7 Ess Copped shoulder injury midway through first term and night was done. 1

13 Bris First game back netted a mixed bag. Had Rockliff at times and OK on him. 4
14 Frem Shadowed Hill for most of night and completely shut him out of the game. 7
15 Haw Tagged Mitchell but found it tough in first half. Kicked a goal but little else. 3
16 Melb Had Davey at times and had him covered pretty comfortably. Limited offensively 4
17   Ankle.  
18 StK Used at half back at times; 15 of his 16 disposals were handballs. 5
19 NM Failed to stop Wells in first half then had slightly better success on Harvey. 3
20 VFL Controlled the game at half back. Penetrating kick cut open the Gulls.
21 VFL Up and down afternoon. Average early, but worked back into the game.
22   Senior emergency.  
23 Bris Shadowed Hanley for periods and OK in that role. Not clean when he had it. 4

SF Port Sub. On in final term for a couple of touches. Does he hold spot? 1
PF VFL Tried to do too much at times but kept battling.

Played for : Geelong

1 Frem Ran with Hill in a great match up. Did well early but he got away late. 5
2 Haw Great job on Rioli in first half and pushed on to play a part in second. 6
3 NM Battled hard but decision making and skill execution still needs work. 5
4 Rich Tagged Cotchin for a fair portion of day and minimised his efficiency. 5
5 Bris Shadowed 300-gamer Black and kept him to season low 22 disposals. 7
7 Adel Tagged Dangerfield and did a reasonable job given flow of contest. 5
8 Coll When matched to Swan he did OK but for some reason tag wasn’t all match. 3
9 WB Tagged Griffen and limited his effectiveness. 16 disposals and a goal himself. 6
10 GWS Caught got with the ball a few times and only battled for most of the day. 5
11 Carl Ran with Simpson at times and tried to work off him. OK without starring. 5
13 Syd Disposal becoming an issue in his game – failed to hit gettable targets. 4
14 Port Lacked poise and polish with ball in hand and subbed off at last change. 3
15 GCS Shadowed Ablett and did Ok in that role. His long kicking is deplorable. 4
16 Coll Swan tag failed and again ball use/decision making hurt him. 3
17 Ess Ran with Stanton and kept him from being a factor. Worked hard other way. 6
18 Adel Played arguably best half of footy as a Cat in opening half then faded badly. 4
19 Haw Enjoyed a great start but faded badly – only one touch in second half. 3
20 WCE Did well although disposal let him down at times. One nice running goal. 6
21 StK Kicked two goals inside two minutes to start game. Copped knock then faded. 6
23 Syd Ran with a variety of players and OK defensively. Not huge offensively. 4
EF Frem Workrate good but poise and polish were not. Needs to work on kicking. 4
