2017 NAB Cup:  

2017 Season

1	Ess	Good ball winner as usual in midfield, but again let himself down at times with sloppy distribution.	5
2	Adel	Did some nice things in and around the ball and worked himself into the ground to be among Hawks’ best.	7
3	GCS	Went with Ablett at times and found the going tough. At the crossroads with his footy.	2
4	Geel	Didn’t have a kick in first half and ended with four for the game. Provided very little to the overall effort.	3
5	WCE	Blue-collar worker in midfield and set the tone with tackling and endeavour. Kicking still scrappy, but effort was there.	6
6	StK	Used in a number of roles through middle. Couldn’t win the ball like he did in 2015.	3
7	Melb	Grabbed 20 disposals and kicked a great goal in second term. Faded as game dragged on but influence early a key.	6
8	Bris	Unassuming around the ball. Did find it 16 times but failed to extract any influence with it.	4
9	Coll	Dug the ball out of several stoppages but that kicking efficiency!	4
10		Senior emergency.
11	VFL	One of the Hawks best in epic draw. 30 possessions and a game-high 10 clearances.	–
12	GCS	Battered around in the midfield but a lot of what he did was under pressure. Seven tackles and four inside-50s.	5
13		Bye.
14	Adel	Great game around the stoppages with five clearances and six inside-50’s.	6
15	Coll	Rugged effort headlined by five tackles. Didn’t star but he gave something to the effort.	5
16	GWS	Dangerous drifting forward. Kicked three including one with a wicked bounce that tied the game. Set shots needs some work.	7
17	Geel	Handy and then lifted visibly in final term (8 disposals). Couple of skill errors but kicked a goal and had four inside-50s.	6
18	Frem	Didn’t use the ball well but was in congestion a lot.	5
19	Syd	Never stopped the niggle all night long, had a strong outing.	7
20	Rich	Didn’t plant a kiss on anyone this week which was as disappointing as his overall impact; nine possessions.	3
21	NM	The yips in front of goal keep getting bigger, but was busy with nine score involvements.	5
22	Carl	Kicked a goal but a relatively quiet night. Found the ball 17 times but didn’t use it well.	5
23	WB	Seven touches in opening half and just eight in the second half in what was a quiet night. Did link well at times.	4

2016 Season

1	Geel	Two first-half goals helped keep Hawks’ in touch. Best game since 2014 Grand Final.	7
2	WCE	Scrappy but effective in midfield/forward role. Running back into 2014 form.	6
3	WB	Eight tackles and 12 contested possessions. Played his role in the middle.	5
4	StK	Hard worker with 11 contested possessions in the hustle and bustle of the midfield.	6
5	Adel	Nothing refined about his game but he wins clearances and adds something.	5
6		Quad.
7	Rich	Started in middle and tore in hard, but disposal not great.	4
8	Frem	Not a major performer. Copped heavy knee to ribs.	3
9	Syd	Couple of terrible clangers in final quarter that were costly to team.	3
10	Bris	Returned to the field after getting sling tackled by West in the second term. Laid six tackles.	4
11		Managed.
13	VFL	Kicked it like a drunk at times but good at stoppages and tackled hard.	–
14	VFL	Spent long periods on the bench, but was serviceable in midfield with five clearances.	–
15	VFL	Bye.	–
16		Lung.
17	VFL	Bulldozed his way to eight clearances and two goals. Might get a call-up.	–
18	VFL	Did well in tight at the stoppages and ran the game out fairly well.	–
19	Carl	Serviceable after an extended spell in the VFL. Will need to do more to hold his spot	5
20	Melb	For some reason he is really struggling. Seven effective disposals and five kicks.	2
21	NM	Made mistakes with the ball. Efficiency remains his biggest worry.	4
22		Ill.
23	VFL	Played a lot in attack and ended with three goals ad five inside-50s.	–

2015 Season

1	Geel	Added his style to the midfield and played role brilliantly.	7
2	Ess	Disappointing afternoon. Just couldn’t get anything going.	4
3	WB	Finished game strongly after being solid for rest of day.	6
4	Port	Needed to do more when Port Adelaide was firing.	5
5	NM	Valuable worker in midfield to help swing things Hawks’ way.	6
6	GWS	Ran with Shiel. Managed to find his fair share of the ball but turned it over too much.	4
7	Melb	Back to his Grand Final form. 18 contested possessions, two goals.	7
8	Syd	Solid around the ball with 14 contested possessions and a goal.	7
9		Calf.
10	VFL	16 possessions on return from calf niggle. Just fair.	–
11	VFL	Bye.	–
12	VFL	Worked hard in midfield but wasn’t at his best.	–
13	Ess	Tried hard but things didn’t always go his way. Five clearances, four inside-50s.	5
14	Coll	Ran with Pendlebury at start but beaten. Not a big night.	4

16		Didn’t play for Box Hill.

20	VFL	First game back from injury and got through unscathed.	–
21	VFL	Among best in good signs for Hawks’ finals depth.	–
22	Bris	Not big numbers but will be happy to be back in the fold.	5
23	Carl	Started to look like returning to best form. Finished the game off well.	6
QF	WCE	Tried to go with Shuey at times. Worked hard but always under pressure.	3
SF	VFL	Worked hard but ball use was ordinary at times.	–
PF	VFL	OK but didn’t set world on fire with 24 disposals.	–

2014 Season

1	Bris	Battled hard in his second game. Chased and harassed well.	5
2	Ess	Shadowed Watson and while beaten he stuck to task. Great experience.	6
3	Frem	Started up forward. Then tagged Mundy and did well. Snapped a lovely goal.	6
4	GCS	Solid job on Ablett even though the champ had 30 plus touches. Big improver.	6
5	Geel	Shadowed Selwood and kept him to four inside-50s. Pretty good from the kid.	5
6	Rich	Given job on Cotchin who wasn’t damaging early. Shut him down second half.	7
7		Back.
8	Syd	Hard tag on Kennedy failed then went to Hannebery and was hammered.	5
10	Port	Struggled to keep a hold on the Power small forwards.	4
11	GWS	Tagged a variety of players including a red-hot Smith late in game.	6
12		Senior emergency.
13	VFL	Did well early before a leg knock hampered his day.	–
14	VFL	Slow start but game to the fore in the second term. Solid.	–
15	VFL	Bye.	–
16	VFL	Kicked two handy goals and had 16 possessions.	–
17	Adel	Produced seven clearances before being subbed out.	6
18	Syd	Shadowed Malceski at times and able to seriously negate his influence.	6
19	WB	Blanketed Cooney early then had a major involvement creatively.	7
20	Melb	Broke the lines and took the game on. 27 touches and four tackles. Excellent effort.	7
21	Frem	Spent time on Fyfe and battled manfully. Not disgraced and developing well.	6
22	Geel	Great job on Motlop and pushed forward to be a goalkicker in third quarter.	7
23	Coll	Not as good as previous week but played his role. Efficiency down a little.	5
QF	Geel	A number of opponents linking through midfield went to Selwood after half time.	5

PF	Port	Had important role on Boak and a wrecking ball in packs. Both were good.	7
GF	Syd	Started as Hannebery’s tagger but ended creating a menace with three goals.	8

2013 Season

1	PM	Burrowed in and gave a super contest all day.	–
2	VFL	Started well and gave some dive off a wing. Tired late.	–
3	VFL	Worked into the game and defensive pressure was top notch.	–
4	VFL	Best for the Hawks. Impressive performance.	–
5	VFL	Had a run with role until a heavy knock saw him leave the ground.	–
6	VFL	Strong contributor in midfield. Bored in all day.	–
7	VFL	Bye.	–
8	VFL	Put his head over the ball all day and lead by example.	–
9	VFL	Caught the eye with his bursts from congestion. Improved player.	–
10		Didn’t play for Box Hill.
11	VFL	Bye.	–

13	VFL	Ran with Gysberts and did a fair job. Developing well.	–
